his stuff could,

but his mind set, i doubt it.

two completely different roles, attitudes.

GUYS BECOME CLOSERS FOR TWO REASONS, THEY SUCK AS STARTERS OR CAN'T LAST MORE THAN FEW INNINGS.

He was a vad starter and closer when he was young because he did not have a secoind pitch. He would be a great starter now. Allyou have to do is gfo 5 innings in this dasy of baseball to be a good starter. Anyone who throws 99 can be a good starter. I liked Joe Morgans comment, best stuff ever, dont argue with me it is just a fact, i liked Joe. There were 1000 blown saves from the time hisc streak started and ended, he allowed no inherited runner to reach third base, if the Dodgers would have had a real first baseman the night his streak ended it would still be alive. The best i have ever seen and Sandy was the best.

You have to have three pitches to be a starter, which he doesn't have.

he would burn himself out after 3 innings he pitches so hard.

once through an order is easy, three times is diff story.

plus some guys might only see him three times all year.

He was a starter and was a piece of crap being one. He has found his niche. It is a mute point. He will be a closer forever more.

Derek Lowe went from closer to starter and was an All Star and cy young canidate. I would have to think Gagne would be at least a 14 game winner as a starter for the dodgers.

Mosi makes a great point though.
