San Diego +1.25 over CHICAGO
Cubs have been anything but impressive all year and by no means do they have any advantage in this one. Jake Peavy will go for the Padres and it’s not hard to back him. The Padres have won Peavy's last five starts, with him going 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA during that stretch. He beat Pittsburgh 13-1 on Friday, pitching seven innings of four-hit ball while striking out a season high-tying nine. Peavy is 4-1 with a 1.70 ERA in six road starts this season. Peavy has a 2.16 ERA and in 16 starts he has lost just three times. He has rock solid numbers right across the board and that’s because he’s rock solid. Something happens to the Cubs when Matt Clement pitches. They usually don’t win and in fact, Clement has just one win in his last 11 starts. His ERA over his past three starts is 4.50 and we have to believe we’re going with the best of it here. Play San Diego +1.25 (Risking 1.6 units).

Kansas City +2.15 over CHICAGO
Forget the pitching match-up here, any idiot can tell you that the South Side has the advantage. This choice is all about wagering against a team that has lost 13 of their past 17 games and have looked ugly in doing so. If their not committing an error they’re striking out or hitting into double plays. This team is so out of sync right now and as a result they are extremely vulnerable each and every time they get between the white lines. Jimmy Serrano was knocked around in his major league debut, however, that was against the Angels. The White Sox made Darrell May look like Jason Schmidt last night and they’ve made a habit of making pitchers look real good. If the Royals get beat here so be it, however, don’t be surprised if they win, this host is not worthy of this billing and taking back better then 2-1 against them is absolutely the right thing to do. Play Kansas City +2.15 (Risking 1.6 units).
