MLB FREEBIE: 2* MONTREAL
The Expos believe it or not are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. Where will they be playing next year, who the hell knows but this season they’ve turned Olympic Stadium into a true home field advantage going 11-2 their last 13 games north of the border.
Overall this team has won 6 straight and 15 of their last 20 including a 12-inning nail-biter last night that should have been done in 9 innings were it not for a collapse by closer Chad Cordero. Funny thing though as subsequent hero Terrmel Sledge said after the blown save that “everyone seemed upbeat and we just don’t quit now”.
Montreal is 5-1 with Armas at home as the right-hander is making his 1st start since 7/28. He’s 2-1 with a 2.40 ERA his last 6 starts.
The Astros have dropped 7 of their last 9 games and will send out Carlos Hernandez for the 1st time this season. The lefty was recalled from AAA New Orleans where he was 9-4 with a 3.61 ERA in 22 starts while striking out 79. He replaces Darren Oliver who was placed on the DL.
