MLB : 2* MONTREAL

This team is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine. Not only have they contributed to a swelling in the wallet of late but they are actually fun to watch. Montreal is riding a 7 game win streak and they are 16-5 their last 21. In front of the Canadian faithful they are 12-2 their last 14.

Again, it means absolutely nothing when you consider their place within the division but what the hell; let’s lay a little wood today. Livan Hernandez has a 7-3 record since ’97 against the Astros along with a 3.25 ERA. The right-hander is also 3-0 his last 4 starts allowing only 8 runs thru 32 IP.

Montreal had zero aspirations of division championships or even a .500 season this year but Houston had visions of World Series coming into the campaign. Obviously, it hasn’t worked out quite the way they’d hoped. Right now, they are 2-8 their last 10 and nearly 20 games back in the Central.

Peter Munro goes today at Olympic and the right-hander has lost 2 straight allowing 8 runs on 15 hits thru 9+ IP. Houston has lost 3 straight and 7 of 8 with Munro including 4 straight on the road.
