MLB : 2* MINNESOTA

The Twins are getting an up close and personal look at a possible contender from the West in Anaheim. They’ve lost 2 of their last 3 after the 9-6 loss last night, a game where the Angels scored 5 runs in the 6th inning. The rally was started innocently enough with a David Eckstein sac fly to Shannon Stewart in LF. The only problem was that Adam scored…from 2nd base after Stewart caught what he thought was out 3.

Minnesota still enjoys a 7 game lead in the Central and today they throw their ace. Johan Santana has allowed 2 runs or less in 13 of his last 15 starts and the Twins have won 13 of those outings. Minnesota is also 11-3 with the lefthander against the AL West.

Anaheim is one of the hottest teams on the planet winning 8 straight games. The problem during their recent hot run was the fact that Oakland was matching the Halos nearly win for win and the Angels still trail by a game in the West.

Another problem is the fact that Boston has also caught fire winning 4 straight and 10 of their last 11 for a percentage points lead in the Wildcard race. The Angels are also 3-12 with Escobar against winning teams this season.
