MLB : 2* ATLANTA

The Atlanta Braves are 19-8 with Russ Ortiz this season winning 11 of the last 12 with the right-hander. Ortiz is 9-2 at night with a 2.97 ERA. The ESPN cameras will be on hand tonight at the Ted where the Braves will look to complete a sweep of the Giants.

Atlanta jumped all over the SF ace yesterday as Barry Bonds was forced into a rare daytime start. Even Braves starter Paul Byrd (parents on hand for the 1st time this season) who went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, got into the offensive show going 2 for 2 and driving in 2 runs.

The Giants watched in horror as Schmidt allowed 10 hits and 6 runs thru 3+ IP and got to see the Braves lead-off man Rafael Furcal stroke 4 hits in 5 AB and drive in 4 runs. Atlanta has won 6 straight games overall and in the 2nd half they are 38-13 with a 9 ½ game lead in the East while also tied for the 4th best record in baseball.

Brad Hennessey goes for the Giants tonight and the right-hander is 1-2 for the season giving up 12 runs on 20 hits thru 15+ IP.
