MLB : 2* PITTSBURGH

First up, John Van Benschoten should be shredding guitar for the Scorpions with a name like that. Instead the right-hander will take the hill for a team that has lost 8 of their last 10 games.

A closer look at the Bucs recent slide shows a tough stretch where they had to play the Cardinals 8 times including a 5-game set that started with a victory over Jason Marquis but ended 7 games later…0-7.

They are 32-18 in this series the last 3 years including a 16-8 mark at Miller. Pittsburgh is also 12-5 as a road dog of +100 to +125 this season.

As for Milwaukee, it’s time to pull out the sticks and the little white ball and get ready for a long winter. The Brewers have lost 12 straight games and 31 of their last 39.

Doug Davis has shown a ton of promise and with a little backing he and Ben Sheets could easily win 15 games or more. Milwaukee has lost 3 straight and 7 of 9 with Davis who has a 4.45 division ERA.

I like your write-up and your pick. I'll be on Pittsburgh today as well. How can the Brewers be a favorite with the way they have played?
