Please tell me it's just my imagination. It seems to me that betting on coll. football is not the same as it was 3 years ago. Since the 2000 season I have noticed quite a difference in 1.) the numbers that are posted and 2.) line movement. As the more experienced of you know line value is the bedrock of winning in the long run. Without it, we have no chance. For some reason, I've had a hard time finding it the last two seasons. What happened ? Did I miss a memo ? Did someone decide "To hell with the old way of posting opening numbers, we're going to do it a different way now" ? If not, it certainly seems that way. Public perception factored into the number ? Uh uh. Not seeing it anymore. Last year ND and AF faced each other undefeated and AF was -3 ? What the hell is that ? Honestly, that number really made me think the days of making money on college football were over. And then there's good 'ol line movement. Used to be your typical move was 1/2 to 1 pt. Last two seasons, a full 3 pt. move has become commonplace. And it always gets moved up to or 1/2 pt beyond the key number. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me ? Oh, I almost forgot. There's more bad news. In support of my theory I've noticed (again just in the last two seasons) that the "sweat" factor is way up. It seems like even when I won, I had to follow the game to the very end since the spread winner could have still gone either way. Evidence of a sharp number in my opinion. In other words, evidence my beloved line value from years past has been kidnapped and may not return home to me.
Looking for feedback on this. Has anyone else noticed a clear difference between the 2000 and 2001 season ? If I see the same (@&#$ this year as I have seen the last two years, I'll be finished with coll. football. No way I'm giving back the money I made during the glory years. Your thoughts ?
