Gangs of New York is a lock for a Best Picture nod. Catch Me if You Can is also attractive.

Agree that Gangs of New York is attactive given that it only has to be nominated.

Will hold off on Lord of the Rings info for now.

be careful with gangs of ny. there might be some Harvey Weinstein backlash if the picture isn't GREAT. people in LA are tired of Miramax's shenanigans come Oscar time.

I do like the LOTR Two Towers over 9 1/2 nominations.

good luck

I agree regarding The Hours.
6-1 is a crazy price.
It should be around 6-4.
It is on the same line of betting as films
which cant win.
This seems a very open year.
I'm not sure I would back any of the chalks.
I also think 4-1 Julianne Moore with Olympic
for Best Actress seems very fair.

12-1......halle berry did it last year.....hollywood may go latin this year....love those odds....the role is getting her some critical acclaim with the uni-brow thing going on /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.....

don't think Salma Hayek will win it this year. nobody is talking about that movie. Julianne Moore is almost sure to get nominated. if they have Nicole Kidman I would take a look at her also. fox is going to be pushing her hard.

jack nicholson in about schmidt is my early best actor prediction. this is sight unseen.

seeing Adaptation tommorow night. I have a feeling this could nominated for best pic. flavor of the month at the right time. will let you know after I see it.

AC,

Adaptation is one of the films I am most interested in seeing this year. Will likely be a month (at least a couple weeks) before it gets to my part of the country.

Enjoy - lakerfan

I really liked adaptation. Probably too quirky to get a Best Pic nod but will WIN best adapted screenplay. I'm pretty sure of that.

here is some new info.

After talking to folks, the consensus is that Salma Hayek will be nominated for best actress. don't know if she will win, but if you can get good odds on her getting nominated take them.

The Hours is a lock to get nominated. just got voted best picture of 2002 by the national review board. that is a pretty good indicator. 6-1 odds are excellent and I would love to open an account there just to place this bet. WHERE ARE THESE ODDS FROM?

Here is my current list for Best Pic

Antwone Fisher
Far From Heaven
Gangs
LOTR
The Hours

climbing:

My BIG Fat Greek Wedding
Catch Me if You Can
Chicago

Still with a shot:

Road to Perdition

Best Actress:

Meryl Streep
Diane Lane - UNFAITHFUl -- my frontrunner to win
Salma Hayek
Julianne Moore -- FAR FROM HEAVEN, runner up right now
Nicole Kidman - THE HOURS. haven't seen it, but if her performance is good, she will probably win.

good luck

AC
