I've read some interviews this week and Bazan is saying that he's going to school the youngster. Do we have another live Mayorga play here?

bazan IS an ex-champ(but,i believe at lightweight)....fought some tough battles with stevie johnston.....but,this will(i think) be at jr welter and will be vs a very tough, vicious body punching prospect in cotto.....the odds are steep, but, for a reason...i`ve seen the odds go from +600 to +500 today....somebody else likes him....i can see taking a shot...not dissuading you....just not my cup of tea....but,if you are going to take those odds, better with a seasoned ex-champ that`s around 6-1"(cotto 5-8" or 5-9") and can punch a little..i`m worried that the skinny bazan body will fold ..g.l.

marquez vs medina.........one of my favorite non-champs EVER......marquez can be a beast....an utter machine when he`s on his game....i lost out on a sure score when his title bout vs in jin chi was cancelled...had marquez,vs a stand-in puncher -240....i would have retired.....but,he`s now laying almost 5-1 vs an awkward puncing machine(light punching)in medina...if there`s a knock on marquez,it`s that he`s to economical with his punches(as slashing and devastating as they are)....medina is very, very busy and wins bvouts by outhustling his opponents...is involved in many close decisions(recently lost disputed decision to johnny tapia-disputed because he clearly won).......at 5-1,with these styles,i`ll have to step back...my gut says that marquez is to much for a medina that has seen many ring wars...but,at 5-1,i`m balking....

david santos vs carlos hernandez.........boxer vs tough guy....hernandez(by all accounts)is out to become first el salvadoran champ...has had visits and moral support from the likes of alexis arguello(my all-time favorite) and roberto duran).....is tough and has fought the tougher guys.....santos is slick and a good technician...hernandez -175.....figures to be a tough, close bout....no reason to get involved as i think either guy could win....a slight, slight lean to hungry hernandez

i see nothing tonight to cause me to remove the rubberband....either to close to call,or the odds and styles are to iffy.....but,it should be an excellent card....many tough, macho latino fighters who are there to win.....and marquez,if sharp,is a treat all by himself...very under control, but extremely devastating...machine-like...i want to see him vs barrera or morales...there,we`d be getting odds and i really think we would have a very, very live dog.....i know naseem hamed wanted no parts of marquez....but,as i said,if medina still has some miles left in him,he`s awkward, busy and tough....the style makes me wary of laying heavy wood here...

sorry i couldn`t be of more help.....keeping the rubberband on the roll tonight....g.l.
