"Neither the United States of America nor the world community of nations can tolerate deliberate deception and offensive threats on the part of any nation, large or small.

We no longer live in a world where only the actual firing of weapons represents a sufficient challenge to a nation's security to constitute maximum peril. Nuclear weapons are so destructive and ballistic missiles are so swift, that any substantially increased possibility of their use or any sudden change in their deployment may well be regarded as a definite threat to peace.

The 1930's taught us a clear lesson: aggressive conduct, if allowed to go unchecked and unchallenged ultimately leads to war.

My fellow citizens: let no one doubt that this is a difficult and dangerous effort on which we have set out. No one can see precisely what course it will take or what costs or casualties will be incurred. Many months of sacrifice and self-discipline lie ahead--months in which our patience and our will will be tested--months in which many threats and denunciations will keep us aware of our dangers. But the greatest danger of all would be to do nothing.

The path we have chosen for the present is full of hazards, as all paths are--but it is the one most consistent with our character and courage as a nation and our commitments around the world. The cost of freedom is always high--and Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender or submission.

Our goal is not the victory of might, but the vindication of right- -not peace at the expense of freedom, but both peace and freedom, here in this hemisphere, and, we hope, around the world. God willing, that goal will be achieved."

Yes, 95% of the supporters of the Goodlatte Bill are Repugs. Congratulations to all the Repugs on this board, you just shot yourself in the ass voting in the moral minority that would take away your freedoms, including posting on this board (as the Rx will be bankrupt once offshore business is choked off). Enjoy the fruits of your convictions and good luck finding a new hobby :nohead:

I swear Bush could be screwing Patriots "mate" (not sure if male or female) and he would approve of it if Bush told him it was in the interest of national security

Here's a quick rundown on Bush's flip flops:
  • Bush is against campaign finance reform; then he's for it.
  • Bush is against a Homeland Security Department; then he's for it.
  • Bush is against a 9/11 commission; then he's for it.
  • Bush is against an Iraq WMD investigation; then he's for it.
  • Bush is against nation building; then he's for it.
  • Bush is against deficits; then he's for them.
  • Bush is for free trade; then he's for tariffs on steel; then he's against them again.
  • Bush is against the U.S. taking a role in the Israeli Palestinian conflict; then he pushes for a "road map" and a Palestinian State.
  • Bush is for states right to decide on gay marriage, then he is for changing the constitution.
  • Bush first says he'll provide money for first responders (fire, police, emergency), then he doesn't.
  • Bush first says that 'help is on the way' to the military ... then he cuts benefits
  • Bush-"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. Bush-"I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care.
  • Bush claims to be in favor of the environment and then secretly starts drilling on Padre Island.
  • Bush talks about helping education and increases mandates while cutting funding.
  • Bush first says the U.S. won't negotiate with North Korea. Now he will
  • Bush goes to Bob Jones University. Then say's he shouldn't have.
  • Bush said he would demand a U.N. Security Council vote on whether to sanction military action against Iraq. Later Bush announced he would not call for a vote
  • Bush said the "mission accomplished" banner was put up by the sailors. Bush later admits it was his advance team.
  • Bush was for fingerprinting and photographing Mexicans who enter the US. Bush after meeting with Pres. Fox, he's against it.

You can argue that one step further to the fact the Republicans in Abraham Lincoln's era support viewpoints that Democrats of today commonly support.

You're right todays rightie would not have had much use for Lincoln.

They didn't like Kennedy either. The assasination made his legacy and it is now politically incorrect to say anything bad about the man.

For the record I think the Kennedy's and Clinton's are just as owned as the Bushes.

I do however think Jack Kennedy was breaking away from some of the things he was ordered to do.

ALL Leaders are deep in bed with other factions ....

I have voted both ways (yeah, just as Patriot has gone both ways sexually in
his lifetime) and to see folks on this forum called Dittoheads (Patriot followers) and blame everything on Clinton is laughable at best

Clinton didnt "have sex with that young lady" is as believable as Bush claiming he had no idea about the Port Sale or Bush 41 claiming to "be out of the loop" during the Iran / Contra days
