On more than one occasion have I defended the US where I thought they'd been unfairly treated\regarded by the rest of the world but I hear they're looking for the actress to play Jessica Lynch in a Hollywood movie and wonder why the f**k I bother.
One reason why the US does not do well in the PR stakes is a total lack of humility when it would be far easier to show humility than hide it.
Ever wondered why the world hates America?
The list grows.
A huge, though not unexpected, disappointment.

The black girl who was a POW, Shoshana Johnson, barely gets 10 minutes on the news.

And she was wounded in both legs!!!

All the while the Jessica Lynch story runs across the ticker, her family hold press conferences, and now they are making a movie?

Funk, Wow dude, the P.O.W. "race" card! Jesse Jackson would be proud! If you don't think those liberal humps in hollywood aren't gonna jump all over Shoshana's story, you truly are blinded. Jessica's story, until a few days ago, was the ONLY story of the pow's. Now that the others have been freed, they'll get their air time and their story will be coming to a theatre near you, and you know it. I bet Whoopie Goldberg is already getting calls.

The only story that needs to be told here is about the Iraqi boy that the Americans blew both his arms off, killed his father and his mother who was 5 months pregnant. Jessica story big deal. Drives a supply truck, captured, fed, given medical attention then went home.

This will be another joke flick like black Hawk down.

Please......don't pull the race shit on this one. Soshana was one of 7 rescued, so the attention was obviously spread out a bit. When Jessica was rescued, she was the first and only rescued POW, so it was obviously a much bigger story at the time. Plus, the events leading up to her capture and the nature of the rescue itself are just a bit juicier.
And I wouldn't exactly call the hills of West Virginia the heartland. Much like eastern Kentucky, people from these parts are generally looked upon as uneducated hillbillies. You intellectual types tend to think that we are all ignorant boobs just because our accent reminds you of Jethro Bodine.
