I told you guys a few weeks back that I knew a secret about Panama. Well, it seems a lot of people are starting to figure it out. And I want to be the first to let you know what is going on down there.

The new sports book is named BetPanAm.com. It's the very first licensed sports book in Panama. Now we know others have set up there before, but never licensed by the government.

It's still going to be be some time before the Grand Opening. But, I wanted to give everyone a heads up on the set up in Panama. That's why I am about to go down there and check it out.

In fact, a very famous poster & writer friend of mine who many of you might already know, Krackman, will be joining me on this trip!

We will investigate everything, including offices, clerks, software, banking, and anything else we know is needed for success in the offshore sports betting world.

Furthermore, one of the main reasons we are so excited about going to Panama is because two of The Rx's favorites, are actually involved in the set up and marketing there.

Namely, Marty Monroe and Scotty(formerly of Pinnacle) are two of the primary people in the
marketing of this new book. And the reports we have been getting from them have us excited to get down there and check it out.

Krackman and I are headed there in mid July, in roughly three weeks from today. And you can expect daily reports from us while we are there as well.

I will conclude by saying this: it sure appears to me that Panama is about to become the new hot spot for offshore sports books, period!

What can they do to convince me that my personal info in Panama is not "one phone call away" from being in the FBI's hands?

Panama has kicked the door in on books in the past, and their gov't is heavily subsidized by the US gov't. This sounds VERY spooky to me.

Panama is one of the last places in the world that has decent privacy laws when it comes to banking and corporations. I wouldn't bet on them rolling too soon, as their revenue from the offshore services industry has skyrocketed over the last few years as one tax haven after another rolls over for the OECD. Even Latvia, which I and many others had felt would be the last castle, jumped like a Jack Russell Terrier when EU membership was offered to it last year.

I wonder what the new "hot spot" will be once the Panamian Army raids a couple of books.....

If all happens as predicted Ill be taking bets at Christmas Island around 2025.

Christmas Island baby...where the girls, the books and the licenses are at. Be there, now....

Ken:

A word of caution about Panama or any jurisdiction for that matter.

A JURISDICTION IS ONLY GOOD IF BANKING CAN BE DONE FROM THERE, FREE AND UNINHIBITED.

When the banks there get noticed by their correspondent banks in the US to kick out books, the banking there will be as ineffective as it is now in CR.

CR is a jurisdiction that really doesn't bother the books too much, other than a nomimal tax.

Also to consider is this:

CR doesn't collect ANY real income taxes from the books, and I don't know what the story is in Panama. If the books play games there, they might find soldiers invading their offices for failing to file/pay.

Panama's secrecy laws are as transparent as one of Jenny's bras. I do know that if any law enforcement people want to see the corporate papers etc. this information will be provided to them by the fiduciary, under penalty of their arrest.

Panamanian attorneys will tell you frankly that Panamian corps and bank accounts, which used to be amongst the best with regards to privacy matters, aren't worth much these days.

On the other hand, condo and office rents are cheap, and communications and roads are very good.

I don't know about the work ethic or availability of English speaking clerks there.

I wish anyone who goes anywhere the best (most of the time anyways).

I have a friend there who is the GM of a large intenational bank, and he tells me that even legitimate established businesses have banking difficulties there, such as the number of checks and wires that can be issued in a month.

The location is good, and it's a nice life in Panama City.

Best of luck to anyone who goes there, but I think most books will let a few guinea pigs go there for a year or two before considering a change from CR.

These good people south of the US border have never heard of regulation.Regulation is anathema to these books. Under regulation, owners of books are fingerprinted, their past history is looked at with a magnifying glass, and of course their finances are thoroughly checked out. Lastly, escrow accounts are required for the players funds. So Costa Rica, the Caribbean, and now Panama,it does not matter.I will avoid this part of the world for financial transactions. One of these days these people will realize that regulation makes their business much more valuable.

Having run a Help Wanted Ad in the local newspaper La Prensa for the past week and interviewed over 100 applicants for Ticketwriters in the past two days, I can assure you of one thing. Those BetPanAm operators who survive the rigors of "training camp" will possess excellent diction and communication skills.

Shrink, before you jump in and say that I'm bashing you, your site, or your breaking news, I want you to know that-for several days now, I've been asking these questions about the Panamanian banking system and gov't, and especially the the gov'ts relationship with the US feds (just not here).

No one has been able to provide much of an answer.
