Expos Juan Rivera blasted two homers in a nine run 2nd. innning against the White Sox tonight. Rivera hit both off Sox hurler Arnie Munoz, (the 2nd a Grand Slam). He is the 48th. player to hit two during same inning in MLB history, the last being Reggie Sanders last August for the Pirates.

Just in case anyone was wondering about RBI's in an inning. Fernando Tatis, who had not hit a grand slam during his Major League career, homered twice with the bases loaded — both times off Chan Ho Park — in the third inning. Tatis, not only became the first Major League ballplayer to hit two grand slams in one inning, but he also set a new record with eight runs batted in during a single inning. Playing for the Cards on April 23, 1999 at Dodger Stadium.

Then Fernando vanished from baseball, never to be seen again.

You know Tatis hit 34 homers (and 107 RBIs) in 1999?

Yes - I remember reading an article about the disapearance of Tatis. He fell right through the Mendoza line and out of baseball by 2002.
