Seriously you must be talking about how one sided it was. I personally enjoyed seeing the underdog beat up on the big favorite immensley. Also put to rest are the David Stern wants the series back in LA so the refs will let Lakers win tonight theorists. All in all imo a fun series if not exactly great basketball.

Sixers ov LA in '83 sweep, Chicago in five over injured LA in '90, and LA sweep of NJ a few years ago, all close to this debacle in aesthetic sense.

How about the 95 sweep by the Rockets over the Magic? No team had ever stopped four 50-win teams en route to the title, as Houston did in overcoming the Jazz(60-22), Suns (59-23), Spurs (62-20) and Magic (57-25). No team ever beat the clubs with the four best regular-season records in the league in order to win the championship. No team ever won as many as nine road games in one year's playoffs, and no team ever won seven road games in a row. Houston did it all.

Not to mention a game but futile effort by the over manned Nets two years ago against a very different Laker team. 4 game sweep.

Hakeem's baseline "dream shake" on Robinson is one of my 5 favorite NBA plays ever..the mermaid was faked out of his shoes..they are still somewhere on Buffalo Speedway?

The '94-'95 "Clutch City" Rockets were one of my fav NBA teams ever, and as a former Houstonian, can tell you it really made the city proud to finally have a winner besides the old AFL Oilers & George Foreman.

Hell, H-town loves a winner, it even loves the Comets and Aeros.

I guess I'm in the minority. It was a pleasure watching players earning millions giving it their all on BOTH ends of the court for a change. The Pistons exposed the American game for what it has become. Almost without exception, it is now a collection of spoiled super athletes that enter the NBA without ever learning basic fundamentals, defense, shooting skills, or team play. The Pistons mastered 3 out of 4 of these (shooting skills???), and that was enough to easily destroy the heavily favored (and over-rated) Lakers. I enjoyed every minute.

For the most part it was enjoyable...just in retrospect (especially after the game 5 blowout) I was just thinking how bad the Lakers looked....It was great to see but from a competetive standpoint it was not that enjoyable...

BTW- I loved when Houston ripped the Magic apart

I also enjoyed this series. David beating Goliath is always great to watch. The complete collapse of the most over-rated team in the recent history of the NBA playoffs was great TV. Detroit coach Larry Brown identified and isolated every single strength and weakness of the Lakers and created a game plan that literally destroyed those strengths and exploited those weaknesses. The Rockets, Spurs and Twolves were not able to identify those flaws and exploit them. But the Pistons stepped it up a notch with a team Defense that I have not seen in awhile. Congrats to the Pistons

For once, hustle, teamwork, humility, courage and conviction was able to not only defeat but humiliate Money, Greed, Egos, Glamour, Cockiness, and Envy , yet this is the worst NBA final???????

The Pistons outplayed, outhustled, busted their balls to do what no one expected, defeat the big Yellow Bullshit Machine, and boy do they deserve a ton of credit, for making these a very enjoyable 5 game series......

look at the starting 5s.....

Hamilton The Rapist
Billups The Glove
Wallace Superman, The Diesel
Wallace The Mailman
Prince George

4 of the Laker 5 have a nickname.....

I think there are many more ramifications resulting from this Finals then any others recently. First myth, WNBA Leastern conference. I subscribed to that up until the finals, actually once the spurs got eliminated, I liked the East a lot more. What that does is add credibility to the NBA. Second, that the NBA is the Lakers, and they will be given every opportunity to win the title. That one, with the conspiracy advocates just falling on their faces, added more credibility to the show. Third, the media turned out to be the biggest Laker shills ever. Who could blame them, but talk about getting stood up. Last, but in my mind most important, Professional sports copy champions. The Motowners probably have no superstars, a bunch of castoffs, with a brilliant old school coach. Very similar to the Hubie difference in Grizz. You start at the top, get a Dumars or a West. Hire that fundamentally sound, old school teamwork first coach. Then take on discounted players, who willingly subscribe to this and emphasize defense first. Team, offense, and the team is more important than any individual. IMO this one series will have more of a profound effect on the NBA than the last 20. I personally think the league and David really began to feel the heat of pushing the Lakers along. Especially against the Kings and Blazers. Even some really bad hand us the game during regular season. Another messase sent, adding hall of famers does not equate to teamwork or championships. This is how it has been for so long, everyone naturally thought the Lakers would just get the rings handed to them again. I notice in game #6 Lak/Min a huge bias against the Lakers, at home? That was my first tip that things had changed. Next, Motown won the FT advantage, all 5 games. Against the Lakers? That has never happened. If you want to subscribe to a conspiracy thoery, did the NBA turn their back on #1 cash cow Lakers, to gain credibility? That is something to think about. As long as they got to the Finals...Best Wishes...OF

The last time the Pistons won the NBA championship, in 1990, seven people were killed, six of them hit by cars, and hundreds were injured by gunfire, stabbings and fighting.
