A $400,000-guaranteed pick four coordinated by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association on Saturday had a handle of $616,489, according to mutuel records.
The pick four bet, which paid $34,249 for each winning $2 wager, linked four graded stakes races that were broadcast live during a two-hour show on ESPN.
"Since three of the races had six-horse fields after scratches, that was a very good number," said Eric Wing, a spokesman for the NTRA.
The winners in the four races on Saturday were Seattle Fitz ($8) in the Brooklyn Handicap, Adoration ($7) in the Fleur de Lis, Colonial Colony ($127.20) in the Stephen Foster Handicap, and Sabiango ($28.80) in the Whittingham Memorial Handicap. A $2 win parlay would have paid $25,644.
The NTRA is scheduled to hold another $400,000-guaranteed pick four on July 3.
