Last night, I was on the second half under 88. Once the Pistons got the board of a Lakers missed and crossed halfcourt with 11 seconds left and 84 points scored, I thought I had it bagged.

Then the Lakers, down 8 with 9 seconds left, inexplicably foul when they hadn't fouled throughout most of the rest of that final minute.

Rip hits both shots. But I'm still two under the number.

When George lofts up and misses a 3, I figure, I got it, I got it! I'm withdrawing big $ tomorrow!

And then Shaq, that oaf, does his thing, puts up a totally meaningless shot, the game pushes, and I've gotta bet a bit more today.

Today, I go for it on the Reds and the over. 4-3 Reds in the 3rd when the first rain delay hits. What looked very good is now a nailbiter.

Now it's 7-6 Philly in the 7th...oh well, at least I'm guaranteed a split. But it's raining again! If they call the game now, I've gone from looking like a possible sweep, or at least split, to losing one and pushing the other.

DAMNIT!

There's no way they'll play again. It will end 7-5 Phils. It's still pouring and it's 12:40. The Reds have a flight tonight and they can't start an inning after 1:00 AM.

1) This is the second time I've said this in the last couple weeks:

With the 24-second shot clock, NBA teams don't need to foul as much as college teams do. If a team is down 8 with 90 seconds left, they're probably not going to foul. With a few 3-pointers, you can greatly reduce the lead in 2-3 possesions (about 65-85 seconds) without giving the other team easy points @ the free-throw line. But if a team is down 8 with 15 seconds left, they're probably going to foul (especially in the playoffs).

People who wonder "Why did that team suddenly start fouling with 15 seconds left?" obviously don't understand NBA strategy.

2) Cincy was winning 4-3 in the 3rd inning before the rain delay. Not sure how that is "very good". A one-run lead in the 3rd inning? Talk to the people who had the Padres on Sunday. Those people have a legit bad-beat.

Funk --

I had the Padres on Sunday too!

That makes three ridiculous losses in two days...

1) Pads on Sunday
2) Lakes/Pist under 88 in 2 half
3) Cin/Phil over tonight.

What will happen tomorrow...

That does suck. The Cincy/Philly game went 5 innings (enough to make your Cincy loss official), but didn't go 8.5 innings (enough to make your Over win official).

I'll admit, Shaq's "meaningless" basket was a bad beat/push. But nobody can complain about the fouling strategy that preceeded Shaq's basket.

Today, I predict that an error in the 6th inning or later will cause you to lose a baseball wager.

Just kidding, hopefully your luck will turn around. I had Tampa in the infamous MNF game, so I know about bad luck.

I had no bet on the game, so I'm being objective about this. The only reason LA fouled with 12 seconds left was out of frustration. So that they could yell and bitch and the refs some more and blame them as the reason for completely sucking. This guy has a beef for complaining that it went over. There's no reason it should have gone over. That foul was bush league.

I got lucky with that pistons lakers 2nd half under, found 88.5.

I almost played under 87 +109 but decided to take 88.5 -110 instead.

My response would be the same as dogs and illini.....

why foul in the waning seconds of a game when you haven't bothered to try closing the gap in points over the last minute or minute and a half?

If you're going to give up in the last minute, then walk off the court and let the last 10 seconds run off also....

If you're going to try to make a comeback via the foul game....give your team some time to make it happen.....realize that the other team just actually might make some freethrows and that being down 9 points doesn't mean you need just three shots to go in from behind the arc after the other team misses all thier freethrows????

I guess the team that is down automatically makes all thier shots???
