Hey guys,

i am getting into golf big time lately, not watching, but playing. I just got a new set of Calloway Big Bertha woods and irons and its really helping my game as the clubs are very forgiving.

Anyway, just wondering what were the best courses you guys have personally played on. I have tried a bunch of different courses in Illinois, Cog Hill is there at the top being a public course. I got an opportunity last fall to play the toughest as far as a combo of rating, 76+ and Slope 147 go and that was a place called Bull Valley Golf Club in Woodstock, Illinois. I got an invite to play and will get to play again this suummer when the foliage will be full, that should be some major challenege.

So i would rank the courses i have played as

1)Bull Valley Golf Club - Woodstock, IL
2)Cog Hill (not dubs dread) - Lemont, IL
3)Eagle Creek Resort - Findlay, IL
5)Harborside International - Chicago, IL
6)The Course at Aberdeen - Valpariaso, IN

Plus numerous other shitty municipal courses not worth mentioning...

Anyone played these courses? Lets hear some tales!

i have a job that requires a lot of golf. about 5 or 6 times a year, a get to play at a cc. i have played bull valley twice and shot over 105 both times. i think its harder than medinah...and that's saying somthing.

i have played at inverness cc and rolling green cc as well. those are nice but not even close to medinah.

i do a lot of customer entertaining...golf and cubs games are the main events.

it is usually pretty fun but, depending on who the customer is, it can be a grind.

i have had the pleasure of playing pine valley and merion country club. At one time these courses where ranked one and four as the best in the country respectively.

Once Jack Nicklaus was playing at Pine Valley and his wife drove up to the gate and the guard asked who she was and she replied that she is Mrs. Nicklaus and she was here to see here husband. The guard told her that was great but she would have to wait outside as there are no woman allowed on the grounds.
