Unless Kobe Bryant turns up his game 3-4 notches those ridiculous whispers that Bryant is building a legacy of Jordan proportions should never be mentioned again...Bryant is a great player Michael Jordan is still from another time and place we have not seen the likes of and may never...

Put MJ on this same court, THINK ABOUT IT, Michael Jordan and the Big Daddy Shaq? The Bulls played tougher teams in the finals and Jordan had for the most part less talent each time...

One thing is for certain Michael Jordan playing with this Lakers team would not lose...

Kobe vs Jordan CASE CLOSED!

And MJ didn't have Shaq drawing 3 guys away either......As a matter of fact , it was just the opposite for each of them. While Shaq is drawing 2-3 guys away so Kobe and his teammates have it much easier......MJ was constantly beating triple teams himself!

Jordan would not be stopped and always showed up for every big game...I`m sick of everyone in the media trying to group him with Jordan...
Kobe is great in his own right, but he cannot take over a game at antime, Jordan could and DID take over every big game...He could not be stopped, he was also the focal point where Kobe has Shaq, Michael never had anyone close to Shaquille O`Neal on his team LMAO...

Michael and Shaq on the same team ????PLEASE!

This has always been my argument guys also when Kobe and Tracy McGrady are compared. The scoring champion T~Mac averages 30~31 points per game while shooting a good % and also provides the assists, rebounds, blocks, and steals with absolutely no help at all on that pathetic Magic team. Can you imagine if he had Shaq?

I can`t recall anyone defending Jordan succesfully, it just didn`t happen....At the same time Kobe Bryant can be defended, and this is not taking anything away from Bryant who is a phenomenal talent....

There was no answer for Jordan`s greatness, he had a will like no other athlete in sports history...at his peak he was unstoppable, Jordan has for some reason become underappreciated in the last few years, perhaps it was his 2nd comeback...

The three best players vs Jordan were Dumars, Reggie Miller, and Jeff Malone.

Can any ONE player stop Kobe?

I havent seen it. He is the ONLY player in the NBA that gets doubled and at time tripled on the perimeter. There is no other player that has so many defenders storm towards his side as soon as he touches the ball on the perimeter. On pick and rolls 2 defenders jump out on him. No other perimeter player demands such attention. Ask all the coaches. Ask Larry Brown. He is the best player in the NBA. Remember that Kobe is just 25. He HAS to blend in to a Lakers team lead by the most dominating force in the game. When he has the ball he has to first think throw it into Shaq. Jordan never had that to think about. Jordan was the man. He developed into the greatest player. But whos to say if he played with Shaq he would be any different than Kobe is now. Kobe is 25. He has 3 rings and going for a 4th. Since he became a starter he has averaged about 25 points, 5 reb and 5 assists per game. He may just be the best one on one defender in the NBA. He is doing all this knowing he may end up in jail for a long time. He has ice blood in his veins. How many game winning shots has he it already. The guy is just 25. Wait until hes 32 to judge him. Thats 7 years from now.

There is no doubt Bryant is ahead of his time (as far as his age goes)

But without SHAQ , Kobe would be another T Mac ( a guy scoring a ton of points for a below avg team)

We have seen Kobe try to play the lead role, it has never worked...

the Lakers wouldn`t be here if it weren`t for reserve guard Fisher...

There is no comparing Kobe & Jordan. There will NEVER be another MJ. He never had a dominant center & he consistently had to deal with double & triple teams & he still found a way to get off.

The media & NBA is desperate to claim their is another Jordan around but they are blowing smoke as they know damn well there will never be another Jordan.

What he did with less talent around him is flat out amazing. We could be here all day speaking about his highlights. What about the game in the NBA finals where he was sick with the flu, had rubbery legs but still managed to win the game for his team.

He was literally a one man army who made other plays around him better. The biggest example is Scottie Pippen. Where do you think Scottie would be in his career if he never played with Jordan?

Oh J~Man that was a shot! Kobe "just another" TMac?!

Cant believe my buddy took a shot at my man McGrady like that!

Simple.......bottom line is Shaq creates so many opportunites for Kobe it's insane. If Iverson or McGrady had Shaq, they would be even more explosive & exciting. Maybe next year we will all see what Kobe can do without the most dominant inside force the game has ever seen drawing players away for him......

If Kobe goes to the Knicks they will be the odds on favorite to get to the Finals in the East.

All I can say is this.......If David Robinson hadn't of changed Tim Duncan's mind when he was about to sign with the Magic & McGrady, Kobe & Shaq wouldn't have the rings they have now......(sorry Surfboard!

Lakers would be MUCH better off with Jason Kidd. Kobe makes teams WORSE, not better.

Despite bad knee and heavy contract, Baron Davis due to being from UCLA, is what the Lakers need, they should offer their entire draft package along with Fisher or Kreem Rush to land Davis from New Orleans.

He can pass, knockdown from top of the key, attack the basket, and is a winner.

Kobe is OK, LA just needs a quality 3rd option..preferably from the PG spot, then need a replacement for George(even worse than Horry), as they've never had a good Jamaal Wilkes type wing-bomber in ages(as Glen Rice was old and didn't enjoy being a Laker)..need a top grade PG and Small Forward with range..3rd improvement option is quality PF to replace Malone.

how can kobe be compared to the great MJ?

of the 3 titles they won...
how many "lucky escapes" they had?
plenty..
but MJ always won in dominate fashions.
MJ start taking over the 4th quarter. and they didn't need no fluke shots to win.
