Earlier today a quiet interesting post appeared on SBR . In fact the post appeared, disappeared and then reappeared again. Here is the content of the post :

6.14.2004 (1:05 AM CST)

Jazz/ABC (SBR rating B-) is voluntarily removed from the SBR Recommended List Jazz Sportsbook is exiting the postup business to focus on its credit division. No new postup accounts will be accepted

Given the Books involved and the nature of this announcement TOW has taken the initiative to contact Jazz Management to learn more about this significant business decision the Book appeared to have taken.

Jazz' reply made us breath again since this post is most definitely misleading. In fact Jazz' Management stated " The post on the SBR site was written a little out of context. We stopped taking post up deposits from the SBR site itself as an affiliate" .

This acceptable business decision by the Book has been verbally twisted on SBR's site in such way to generate curiosity, to say the least.

Given that TOW doesn't follow SBR's business model based on referrals we strongly believe that watchdog sites, specially if morally engaged with a Book by an affiliate program, should be more careful when posting such messages which may indeed mislead readers.

As a final note TOW thanks Jazz Sport Management for their promptness in replying to our request to comment on SBR's post.

This is bizarre, to say the least!

Good morning,

There seems to be some interest in why we chose to remove Jazz/ABC from the SBR site. Here are the facts:

Jazz/ABC has a company policy to avoid advertising on forums or watchdog sites. After reviewing our relationship with SBR we felt this fell under that heading. There is NO animosity toward SBR and I do not think John has any toward Jazz/ABC though I was disappointed in his revised comments.

SBR has done good things for the players and has forced other sites to focus more on the players and less on cash flow.

And now for those who are dying to ask..... Jazz/ABC is doing very well in both the sportsbook division and with our casinos in Costa Rica. We feel that the redefined business plan we put into place in 2002 has been a great success. 2003 produced the highest hold percentage in the company history and our growth for 2004 may not be spectacular but it is very steady.

I hope this answers all the speculation and ends any talk of "extortion" or conspiracy. I would ask the moderators to rename the thread to reflect the true situation

Thank you

I have played at JAZZ for many years, I have also visited one of their land based casinos in Costa Rica, and finally, I know their main guy very well...

Without a doubt, they are to be TRUSTED...

This is a sports book that is without a doubt, one of the safest in our industry...

When they had some problems a couple of years back, they acknowledged it candidly, then corrected it...

If more sports books were like JAZZ, offshore gambing would be much better off, period!

The ( obviously deceiving ) news posted on SBR came in yesterday while I was busy with some due diligence on ratings including Jazz/ABC, which happen to appear as under rated on TOW based on information about the Book.

Given the content of SBR's post I have contacted Jazz Management whom replied in a very professional, candid and straight forward way.

Given that this doesn't appear to be the first case where SBR makes deceiving posts based on biased agenda I felt it was correct to expose it.

There should be less and less room for lies in the Offshore community as good shops deserve to be rewarded, bad shops deserve to go out of business.

Jazz is a good shop. Unjustifiably bashed by SBR.

No problems here. The business of information can be a difficult one. In our effort to gather information we erred and have apologized to Jazz and the target book which we were investigating.

One of the problems of growth is that more people become entrusted with highly sensitive information.

The problem with Jazz and SBR was a misunderstanding caused by SBR's investigation of another book and particularly the lack of safeguards on protecting sensitive information. For that we take our lumps and apologize to Jazz.
