I have no idea about 2, but most experts say 3-5% to question number 1.
The hard part is how to measure it. Does the guy that shows up in Vegas for one weekend and goes home a winner count? How about guys that try to make a living at it and do, but it isn't enough to pay the bills. Believe me there is a LOT of people in Vegas, well used to be back in the heyday of sports betting that had good skills and could pick more winners than losers, but they were relying upon it to be their job and it just wasn't realistic. You think you have a tough job, imagine being the guy that tries to grind out a living betting $200/game. I met more than I could count trying to do that. They would be consistent and end up maybe 10 units in a good month, but most months they would scratch out 4 or 5 units. Imagine these people could have made almost as much money on a minimum wage job and in most cases worked far harder. So that is what you need to think about, making money as in just beating even or making the good dough you probably have in mind.
