Melo Miffed

After one good year, apparently Carmelo thinks the NBA should revolve around him. Note to Carmelo, you're a ROOKIE. Nothing in the NBA needs to include you.

BTW, gotta love how he pulls the rare double-negative and third-person combo in the same sentence!

DENVER -- Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony is pretty sure he will be watching the U.S. Olympic team on television this August.

Anthony said Wednesday he believes the USA Basketball selection committee has moved on without him.

"They've got their mind set on what they want," Anthony told the Rocky Mountain News. "Don't nothing include Carmelo. Nothing in the NBA includes me. You realize that?"

Anthony led all rookies in scoring this past season but finished second to Cleveland Cavaliers guard LeBron James in Rookie of the Year voting.

James will play for Team USA in the Aug. 13-29 Athens Games. Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade, another rookie, also is expected to make the team. The roster already includes two small forwards, Shawn Marion and Richard Jefferson.

"I could wait four years for the next one," Anthony said of the Olympics. "Hopefully, I'll be globally known in four years."

This is another reason why I like the NHL 10-1 over the NBA.

The players are much more modest.........and 100x more respectful of the sport they play.

Hockey players are the best.They are like cool cats or something. YOu know what I mean?They have the confidence but at the same time they are down to earth.

Maybe if 'Melo spoke with an ounce of intelligence like Lebron, and wasn't so determined on being a wannabe thug, he would get the marketing Lebron gets.

Face it, marketing is geared toward white america, as this is the overwhelming majority of the fan base.

When people talk about role models... Does that include speaking with a bit of intelligence.
For God's sake... When you make a gozillion dollars a year... you could pay a teacher to help you a few minutes so you could say a few words in correct english.

I am amazed that Jordan has not hammered Mello's ASS about his thuggish behavior. He is on "the Jordan team" you know.

I watched the show "Punked" on MTV. It is a prank show and Melo was the target in the show. Melo was a complete idiot, thug wannabe, dropping 4-letter bombs, wearing his pants half way down his ass. When a actor playing a security man asked Melo to pull up his pants, Melo started swearing and looked liked he wanted to punch him out. Lost all respect for the guy.

NBA players usually have some sort of community-service clause in their contract.

Most players meet this clause with "Read to Achieve." It is a NBA-wide program. They go to a local school, they read a book, they tell the kids to stay in school.

However, some players don't participate in "Read to Achieve"....because they don't read well enough.

As Packer said, you'd think these guys would take some of their money and invest it in their own education.
