2 critical mistakes by Big Ben...
the guy may be tough and strong, but he's just as stupid...

1) Lakers down by 6 with 40 seconds to go.
they missed, Oneal Offensive rebound, put back and scored, Ben Wallace "mickey mouse" fouled him, Oneal +1. three point play cutted the lead to 3.

2. Lakers down by 3, inbouding the ball w/ just 10 seconds left. Oneal got the ball with Ben guarding him. where is the foul???? Lakers got no time-outs left, oneal probably gonna split the free throws, and 2 free throws by the pistons is a done deal. But Ben Wallace was too stupid......

conclusion, he's big and strong, but he's not too bright!!!

The ticky tack on Shaq was brutal, I mean if you are going go near O'Neal that deep you may as well get your money's worth and hack a Shaq. As for intentionally fouling on last play of regulation, I blame Larry Brown for not telling the team during TO to foul Shack or even Walton if they touch ball. Kobe nailing the shot was hardwood serendipidity, what can you do?

There was no foul on Shaq down 6...You know the refs will call almost anything at that point. I don`t care what anyone says the refs will call certain things in certain situations, that was one time where they were going to call anything close to resembling a foul.

Also, its a ridiculous argument to say Detroit 'should have deliberately fouled Shaq' on the last posession, if he doesn`t get the ball and you deliberately foul him its a foul shot plus the ball back....Face it Detroit did all they could on that final trip, Kobe hit a monster shot, IMO he isn`t getting the recognition he deserves for nailing it. In the NBA (with timeouts moving the ball up the court) its alot different than college and intentionally fouling...If Detroit fouls with 5-6 secs left , then LA turns around and immediately fouls , LA would get the ball back with a chance to tie or maybe even win....Kobe just made a clutch 25 footer, you have to live with that.

Frankly I am not sure how many time outs LA had left, assuming they had one, why not foul Shaq. He is a dog to make them both, he had the ball with around 8 seconds left after the inbound. So he even if makes two its a one point game, Detroit inbounds with 8 seconds to go, a second or maybe 2 will run off clock before Lakers can foul so now it is up to Pistons (Billups, Prince, or Hamilton) to make 2 of 2 and leave Lakers still down 3 with under 8 seconds. imo it would have made sense to foul Shaq after he caught the inbound pass or better still let him go to the hoop for a deuce. The last thing you are supposed to let happen is exactly what happened. Larry Brown knows it, and is taking the rap in the press for allowing Kobe to even get a shot off.

Forgive me (i was uncharacteristically bombed )but didn`t Kobe hold the ball the final 12 secs? I saw Larry Brown mention this and also thought Kobe had it out top pretty much the whole posession.

Have to admit, when I see some of the shots this guy actually is delusional enough to think he can make, I have to agree that you are right that he is no relation to Einstein.

Is there a high correlation between raping teenagers and hitting clutch 3's?

And this was also coming off the ticky tack play just seconds earlier ...I just don`t think Detroit had the mindset to intentionally foul...

I believe Brown when he said they didn`t want to risk a possible 3 or even 4 pointer (if they did something stupid out on Kobe, and he miraculously hits a 3 and gets fouled) by intentionally fouling....With time winding down its someties easier said than done...

bottom line it shouldn`t have even came to that...

another questionable call was....

you know lakers were thinking three, why didn't they put a Prince (who'd been giving kobe trouble all the time) on Kobe,

but a shorter, weaker defender RIP on lakers' best clutch player????

I don't get this. man, even the spurs could win w/ 6 points lead and 40 secs left.

the biggest mistake by the pistons and u have to blame larry brown for this also, he should have told his team if shaq touches the ball foul with no hesitation, i watched the tape, shaq had the ball for 1.5 seconds with pistons around him and no body tried to foul, one of the biggest blunders in finals history, even then when the clock went under 5 seconds they should have fouled whoever had the ball regardless, that last posession was the biggest mental breakdown i have seen since leon lett against the dolphins, and ironically it was made by the best defensive team in the league. pistons desreve to lose the series now because everyone knows the eries was over had the pistons won that game.

I missed the game. a 6 point lead with 40 seconds left. Now I know why everyone called it the meltdown of the year.
