How dumb is Ben Wallace, Shaq held the ball for at least 2 seconds and he does not foul? LA down 3 less than 6 seconds left at time, Shaw makes one of two at best and LA has no timeouts. DUMB, DUMB, DUMB!!!!

Hey Rasheed did foul Shaq with 36 seconds in regulation allowing the 3 point play to cut the lead from 6 to 3 and give the Lakers the chance they needed. Ah, how this game brings back so many memories to this Blazer fan of Rasheed blowing it in crunch time to the Lakers in the playoffs!

Or even Hamilton fouling Kobe when he was not in position to shoot. I would have thought a smart coach like Brown would have told his guys to foul and not let them get off a three...

heavy sighhhhh.

Wallace fouls Shaq. He makes them both. Detroit gets fouled immediately and makes one.

Kobe throws in the same shot to win it in regulation.

This board goes NUTS talking about how dumb Wallace is, why would he stop the clock like that with only 6 seconds left, the clock running, a no threat 3 point shooter with the ball, LA with no timeouts. How stupid could he possibly be? Or he fouls Shaq he feels the contact and throws in a continuation with the shot. He bricks the free throw it bounces around, and a Laker makes a put back to win it by 1. The board again calls Wallage the dumbest man on the planet.

Fouling when up by 3 typically only makes sense

1) When there is less than 3 seconds left
2) A shooter has the ball outside the arc, or close to it.
3) There is no danger he will be able to shoot after the foul.

A good basic strategy is to never foul up 3, since more often than not it can hurt you more than it will help you.

.........now I'm curious why they let Kobe have a fairly easy 3 with 2 seconds left. Why not run up next to him and let him drive right by you? THAT was the bad play out there. Of course, fouling him would have been better than letting him shoot, but it is usually too much of a risk to foul with the continuation call chance.

>>Wallace fouls Shaq. He makes them both.<<

For some reason that definitive statement strikes my bud Johnny Walker as funny. Then again, Dude needs to go to bed.
