What does a pulled/hurt hammy feel like?

If you have constant pain in that area, and when standing with feet shoulder width apart bending over slightly the pain is much worse than when fully extended pulling on toes does that sound familiar?

Is the pain bad when sitting and extending the knee to a 60-65° angle with foot off the ground?

Is the pain much less when sitting but still aggravating?

Do you walk with a limp?

What to do to fix it if so?

Thank you

Newbie. I can't help it if I am addicted to this chit. It was destiny.

I can still draw up a PFMEA & Control Plan with the best of them.

healing it is time, and heat, if that is what it is.

That sounds about right.

Felt like a knife went in my hammy when I pulled it. Had major limp for a few days. Time healed it but it took a couple weeks. Sucks because I couldn't really run or do much exercise.

Sounds like you need some physio. I have had hamstring & sciatica trouble at times:

1. Lie on floor near door with both legs stt out. Raise one keeping straight until it is up against the door post & you feel the ham stretch. Then curl toes towards your head and keep that position for 1 minute or more. Repeat on other leg even if the hamstring is not sore on that side, prevents uneven balance.

2. Standing up, extend the straight leg out in front and put foot flat on floor, put both hands on knee. Now bend the other knee and stick your arse out, you should feel a deep stretch on the ham. Hold for 1 minute and repeat on other side.

3. For sciatica, it is really the back that is normally the issue, though you will feel pain anywhere from the base of spine to your toes as the nerve is being squeezed. At times in 1998 mine was so bad I could sometimes not even stand, a rowing injury.

I got a good yoga book and really worked on the back positions - the Camel, bridge, plough etc. It worked, I never get back pain now even on long journeys but still get some leg / ham pain when I go out running etc.

My problem is the result of a slightly moved ruptured disk in my back from 1993. Time to suck it up and be a man. No pain, no gain. Not to mention the only help is really surgery. NO THANKS!

Just pain, no longterm damage to nerves.

General- My advice is to suck it up and get the surgery. As long as the doctor is confident that it will correct the problem onc and for all. Whatever you decide to do best of luck and just remember to always chase your pain meds with plenty of :drink:
