Just as I'd suspected!

Suspect tendons (front wraps on a good horse, hmmm) and a show-me-the-money owner were the basis of the prognostication. Why risk injury when you can get the bucks at stud? An aristocrat of the turf, while not as tear-jerking a story, would have raced the horse, at least for another year.

He'll go around Labor Day in the graded but common Phila Mile, then to the farm. Mrs Car Dealer said they'd be a viewing area so the hores's many fans can come and get a glimpse as he's led into the breeding shed.

Shit, lady, we don't want to see him screwing around on a farm. (And I predict he'll be a ho-hum sire.) We want to see him RACE. And he wants to RACE, for crissake. The Travers, the Haskell, the Breeders's Cup ... Oh, hell, go sell your cars.

one day i wanna be a horse!

what a life

you "work" for about 3-5 years AT MOST! and when you work it is no more than about 2 times a month. you get daily exercise and people treat you really nice. you get fed good food (for a horse) and unlike the french - you get bathed on a regular basis. and even though you have someone on your back every so often, it is only so midget like person who is small and doesn't weigh a lot - and at most is only a few pounds more than lara flynn boyle!

when you are done - the best is yet to come.

they take you to some really nice farm. out there you are free to roam the area and do whatever you want most of the time.

every so often, they bring by a pretty horse for you to take out back and

and this is the best part. unlike humans, there is no need to wine or dine her or lie to her and tell her that you love her! all you are supposed to do is get together with her -
1036253673.gif
her brains out - and then leave! you also don't have to worry about her old man wanting to hunt you down and ring your neck because first off - odds are he couldn't catch you and second - even if he is alive - he WANTS you to
1036253673.gif
his daughter!

you don't have to worry about her reaction the next morning when she wakes up in bed next to you - for she won't be there. you don't have to worry about lines like "do you love me" or "will you respect me in the morning!" you also don't have to wear a condom and worry about STDs!

and best of all - if you get her pregnant - not only are you NOT in trouble - you are lauded for your efforts and as a matter of fact - if you DON'T get her pregnant - then you ARE in trouble! and when she does have your kid - you don't have to worry about child support or anything like that because odds are (and this is the only bad part) your kid will be sold on the market and you will probably never see him again - meaning when he gets to be old enough to drive he will bug someone ELSE for the keys to the car!

i tell ya - in my next life i am gonna be a horse!

Life isn't that good for every horse:

Activists Fighting Dekalb Horse Slaughterhouse
Friday, January 09, 2004

The U.S.D.A. estimates 42,000 horses were slaughtered in the U.S. last year. But did you know they`re for human consumption? There are only two horse slaughterhouses for human consumption in the U.S. And that number will increase to three if a Dekalb company wins its intense battle with animal rights activists. Horse trainer Gail Vacca is nearly pushed to tears to think what may happen a mile away from her home. A horse slaughterhouse is being built by Belguim based Cavel Incorporated, a slaughterhouse for human consumption in European countries. Hundreds of people are joining Vacca to help pass a state law to stop it. In the state of Illinois, killing horses for human consumption is legal, although eating horses is not. Cavel officials say the activists need to back off. What frustrates the activists is the sensitive video shot at a horse slaughterhouse in Texas within the last year. The national horse protection coalition hardly calls this process humane. Ms. Vacca says this isn`t an animal rights issue, it`s a companion animal rights issue. Her opponents call this type of horse slaughter an uneasy subject, but a legal one. And those legalities will be debated in Springfield next week.

Horse Slaughter - An American Disgrace, Not a Necessary Evil

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If given the opportunity, Americans would overwhelmingly vote to outlaw the slaughter of America's horses. The pro horse slaughter forces have depended on the secrecy of horse slaughter. In recent years, in large part due to the Internet, the existence of horse slaughter has been revealed to the American public and to horse lovers and owners.

Previously the anti-slaughter forces were dependent on horse publications to cover horse slaughter-which happened about as often as a solar eclipse. When the issue was covered, the articles were typically pro slaughter. Mainstream media only covered the issue when there had been a horrific accident involving horses being transported to slaughter. Thus the horse industry's "dirty little secret" has been allowed to continue for over 20 years. The result has been the cruel slaughter of over 3 million of our noble American horses in the past 2 decades to satisfy a foreign taste for horsemeat.

The Thoroughbred racing industry has now come out against slaughter and is actively working to oppose legislation that would legalize the slaughter of our horses. The CA Thoroughbred industry supported CA's Prop 6 in 1998, which made the slaughter of CA's horses a felony.

The American Horse Council, AHC, long pro slaughter, has now adjusted their position to neutral, due in large part to the Thoroughbred industry opposition to slaughter. The vast majority of state horse councils remain out of step with the position of horse owners and still remain pro slaughter. Their attempt to remain neutral or to oppose anti-slaughter legislation based on their concern for the welfare of unwanted horses is a lame attempt at damage control.

Recently many of these pro slaughter organizations have taken the step of supporting horse welfare organizations as an option for unwanted horses. That is a step in the right direction. Yet, very few of these state horse councils are working to enforce laws on the books against cruelty to horses. If anything they support laws with vague and ambigous language that will make the successful prosecution of abusers nearly impossible.

The AQHA remains pro slaughter, stating that owners need the option of slaughter, and describing slaughter as humane. The word slaughter and humane in the same sentence is an oxymoron. The American Paint Horse Association testified in favor of horse slaughter legislation in TX in 2003.

Probably most disturbing of all is the American Association of Equine Practioners, AAEP, support of horse slaughter. Who would ever believe that a vet would support the cruel slaughter of our horses?

Pro slaughter forces point to anti slaughter advocates as animal rights activists. Up until the time many of us choose to speak out against horse slaughter, we are professionals in the horse industry, or lifelong horse owners. We are part of the horse industry. The pro slaughter forces use the term animal rights activist to discredit and dismiss our arguments against the slaughter of our horses.

TX Rep Betty Brown stated on the Texas House Floor on May 24, 2003 ,

"..and the question now is, do we want the animals rights people to set ag policy for our State from now on? Or do we want…. or do we want the people that are involved in agriculture and agriculture related industry in our State who deal with this issue all the time and know the most about it, for them to make the decisions about the future of ag policy in our State."

Excuse me Ms. Brown, since when did Fasig-Tipton, Breeders Cup, Ltd., and Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, TRF become animal rights activists and not,

"people who deal with this issue all the time and know the most about it"?
