Why is WISE GUY money on Calgary tonight?

I must confess that I am far from a hockey guru, but I do follow line moves a lot...

Tampa Bay opened at minus $1.80 almost everywhere and they are now at only minus $1.60...

Many hockeys buffs that I know tell me Tampa Bay is the better team...

And, I realize the importance of playing at HOME for a GAME 7 in virtually every sport...

So then WHY are the WISE GUYS pounding Calgary?

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks,

THE SHRINK

1. The -180 price is a very big price for anybody to lay in what is essentially a game where Tampa only has a very slight edge.

2. Calgary has been an OUTSTANDING road club in the playoffs.

3. Many feel the Flames have outplayed the Bolts in the series thus far and have also had most of the bad breaks go their way.

PS- This will be the 13th game 7 in Stanley Cup Finals history and the home team is 10-2.

My line for the game....

CALGARY +139
TAMPA -154

Fishy,
Great points but ask Shrink who he likes tonite and this is an automatic fade if he handicaps this game if he knows how??

10-4 on the road in the playoffs. imo -160 is still a tad high

And the Flames won a game in the same exact situation in their first series against the Canucks after having won the 5th game on the road and then losing in OT a chance to wrap it up at home in the 6th game. People thought they were finished and would be flat after blowing a chance to clinch, but they led or were tied the whole way in Vancouver and even overcame a devastating tying goal to win. The most resilient team to come along in quite some time, they shouldn't really be much of a dog at all.

all of the reasons mentioned are valid

also keep in mind this series has been a win one/lose one from the start and this is calgary's "turn" to win.

and as others have pointed out - calgary has tied an NHL record for road wins in the playoffs and has won at least 2 road games in each series - and this includes the #1 seeded wings.

to me - this game is a toss-up so why not take the dog and hope.

BUT

i will not be playing this one for i think TB wins it.

keep in mind - NO TEAM with a losing record at home during the playoffs has ever won the Cup. calgary was 5-7 during the playoffs.

The line seems very high to me. If I played I would have to play Calgary +

This will be a fun game hopefully coming down to the wire and tight the whole way.

TB may wake up though and close the door quickly

I am surprised SG is willing to show his name with that picture of the cup after he had already sold it in a "no refunds" deal with the Flyers

my original pick for the CUP before the playoffs began was the flyers. I did predict they would go far or win it all. Yes, I came within a goal of going to the Stanley Cup Final. But I also predicted the Bolts would win this series when they were down 0-1 in the series, and have quite the large bet for tonight, and a medium sized bet for the series, and 2 meal bets for the series for TB.

It's been a great playoff for me, and when TB wins tonight, it will be a great way to end the NHL season for SICK GAMBLER..

seems odd to me as Calgary may have some key Injuries...

Although this may be close to a 50/50 proposition & + 150 on a 50/50 is pretty good....

Still not sure who I will predict to win this game. Let me think, should I jump on the Bolts and root for my pal Sick Gambler? Not sure yet need more time.

TB -145
Cal +125

is what it is now

this means Calgary is getting hammered

unlike other sports - this is "smart money" for unlike the other 3 sports - Joe Public doesn't bet hockey because he is clueless on it.

i like TB here and was going to sit this one out - but with this big a price drop and this muchmoney on Cal - i might be "forced" to make a play on TB although i sense we get some buyback soon on TB.

i'll say the line closes:

TB -150
Cal +130

I haven't bet a single thing on this series but tonight I'm stepping out & playing Calgary. They will waltz into Tampa Bay & break their hearts. This team won't be denied.
