AMSTERDAM (AP) - Marriage counsellors may do brisk business in the Netherlands during the upcoming European Championships.

A recent poll shows one in three Dutch men think watching their national team on television play at the Euro2004 games in Portugal is more important than celebrating their wife's birthday.

Male respondents said either their spouses should watch the game too, or that any birthday party should be postponed until afterward. Women were not asked.

The poll of 400 men was sponsored by the Dutch broadcaster KRO and carried out by research company Intomart.
