Smarty Jones is Unbetable.

Smarty Jones going off at 1 to5 or worse is unbetable by himself. If you have to bet - try a cold exacta - SJ/Eddington is one possibility I like. Weather in New York calls for a chance of some showers, but nothing like the Kentucky Derby rain storm. Come rain or shine this horse will win tomorrow. Some say Purge hs a chance, maybe, but SJ has already dusted him once and should have no trouble doing so again. Best of luck. wil...

Was under the impression Smarty has beat Purge twice? That Purge actually shuffled back both times...Have not got my form yet. I have never seen a horse get into another gear at Preakness. I think with the extra length of Belmont, would have won by 15 or more. So short of field, and such a long race takes a lot of racing luck out of the equation. Unless he stumbles out of gate, or takes a bad bump, should be smooth sailing. I can find no value in the race other than hoping he wins...OF

1-5 odds tops in the starting gate is my uneducated horse prediction.

I think the chance of SJ being 1-5 are at least 3x greater then being 3-5.

My bad - SJ has beaten Purge twice, I was referring to the Arkansas Derby on a muddy track which is a possibility tomorrow. Purge had the lead then faded to a distant 5th under Jose Velazquez.

No prob Wil, I was not sure myself. I am thinking 1/10. I am serious. I would put Smarty goes off at 1/5-1/10. With Rock Hard Ten going to another Jock besides Stevens, he is a very hard horse to handle. Purge just does not have distance, faded shorter, Eddington sort of kept pace. But Smarty was drawing away. Smarty is racing also rans and greenies. Public following is now immense, way more than other hopefuls, triple crown. My call, 1/7...OF

For the dying sport of thoroughbred racing, I hope Smarty wins by 10+

My feelings are the movie SEABISCUIT will have done 100x more for horse racing than SJ winning the triple crown ever could.

Which Seabiscuit by the way, hasnt really amounted to anything significant has it?

Gotta disagree Fish - this race tomorrow is huge for the sport. The general public has taken to this horse, not just average horse palyers. A win by Smarty Jones at the Belmont and people will be talking about him for decades.

You know fishy, getting those people to trade the theater for the track is just not going to happen. Just another underdog story about a horse. But busloads of people are betting Smarty. Lot of nostaglia on Biscuit, but Smarty is bringing the betting public out. Will be SRO at Belmont, otb's and books. They are not there remembering history, they are there to witness it...OF

Has every right to improve on his last race. very lightly raced and should get the distance. Would it suprise me if he won? A little, but I give him the only shot to beat Smarty.

Absolutely Wil!!!!! The upside of a SJ win is just what the racing industry needs. 1-10..1-5
is just not a viable wager!!! As stated earlier, keep an eye on the show pool for possibilities when you have a fav of this magnitude!!!!!

Dicky, I think RHT is still green, fought the gate and blew a lot of energy for nothing. Plus when not ridden by Gary he has been hard to ride, and performed bad. I think Gary is committed in Europe. I had RHT over Eddington last race, I will now put Eddington above RHT. That is my tri....OF

DW - good point, RHT is a bit of a mystery with only one race outside of Cal. I look for SJ to make his bid on the final turn (2nd) as usual, blowing by front running Purge, closely followed by RHT and Eddington both trying to stay in striking distance. As they turn for home look for SJ to cut in and grab the rail then pull away. A late charge should come from Royal Assault who will be running for place with RHT and Edd.

can't bet Smarty at those odds, I think Purge will be overbet. So that leaves Rock Hard Ten who I love, it will be interesting to see how Solois handles this horse I know they want to go after Smarty out of the gate but Solois is more of a come-from-behind type of rider. I wouldn't overlook Birdstone, could have used more conditioning and he's not really a long-shot but might be worth a shot if the price is right. I'll also keep and eye on Eddington, Bailey will keep him in it if it's a 4-5 horse bunch with nobody looking to take the lead early. might go with an ex 5 over 489. and WP on rock hard ten. would like to see smarty pull it off tho, I can't bet it but it would be fun to see

Still waiting for Birdstone to show why he got all the early hype. I do think he is the horse that will screw up alot of exotics if he runs well.

Birdstone - Once promising 2 year old has disspointed as a three year old. Granted he had two bad trips in his last two starts: Getting steadied twice in the Land's End, and steadied and shuffled back in the KD. With a big effort could get up for show.
