Heading for the Hall of Fame for sure, but imho Reggie was exposed in this series. He should give serious consideration to calling it a career.

I agree. The guy is missing FTs of all things. He is no threat to take the ball to the hoop so everyone plays up on him.

Then again he is talking about playing for the Olympics. Go figure.

He can always become a Laker next yr.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) Reggie Miller has made a career out of coming through in the clutch for the Indiana Pacers. He just couldn't do it one more time.

Miller managed only six points on 2-for-8 shooting and missed two critical shots down the stretch of the Pacers' 69-65 loss to the Detroit Pistons in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals Tuesday night.

''As long as you get opportunities, you have to take advantage of them,'' Miller said in a brief interview session after the game. ''In this series, we didn't.''

With Indiana down 63-59 and 3:44 to go, Miller went to the free throw line for a foul shot after a technical foul was called. Normally automatic from the line, Miller's shot clanked off the rim.

Moments later, Miller had another chance to give the Pacers a lift with a wide open 3-pointer, but came up empty on that shot as well.

Instead, it was the Pistons who came up with all the big shots in crunch time. A 3-pointer by Tayshaun Prince with 46 seconds left gave the Pistons a 68-61 lead and propelled them to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1990.

Miller's performance was uncharacteristic for a player who has earned a reputation as one of the best clutch shooters in NBA history.

That reputation was further enforced in Game 1 of the series when he drilled a 3-pointer with 31 seconds left to break the game's final tie and lead Indiana past Detroit 78-74.

There was no Miller Time on Tuesday.

His final shot, a desperation 3-pointer with the game already decided, was off the mark, too.

The big question is, has Miller played his last game for the Pacers? He still has one year left on his contract, but at 38, he isn't getting any younger and may have just watched his last best chance at the NBA title that has eluded him for 17 seasons slip through his fingers.

Miller wouldn't address his future after the game, but teammates openly lobbied for him to return for one more season.

''I'm happy just to have played on the same team as him,'' Jamaal Tinsley said. ''It's been a great ride. I hope it's not the last. I know he wants that ring, he just fell short this year.''

Pacers president Larry Bird said he wants Miller to return, but it is totally up to him.

Miller watched the player he dubbed ''Mini-Me'' Detroit's Richard Hamilton give a Miller-esque performance all series, and it was no different in Game 6.

Hamilton did his best Miller impression, coming off screens and constantly moving without the ball to get open shots. His jumper with 1:13 to play gave Detroit a 65-61 lead. Hamilton finished with 21 points and led Detroit in scoring all six games of the series.

The two embraced after the game, with the youngster paying homage to the veteran.

''I thanked him for the game he plays and the chance to model myself after him,'' Hamilton said.

Miller wasn't the only one to struggle against the Pistons' suffocating defense.

The Pacers shot just 36 percent for the game to cap a series of poor shooting.

Indiana set a record for the fewest field goals in a six-game series. Indiana made just 156 shots to set the mark, previously held by the 1999 Portland Trail Blazers.

No doubt, Reggie can keep playing. Is he still a starter? I don't know. But there are LOTS of teams that would like to have a 3-point specialist of Reggie's caliber. As we've seen in the NBA playoffs, there aren't many quality shooters in the NBA!

Don't necessarily agree it was Reggie's "last best chance" for an NBA title. If anything, the Pacers should be better next year. Artest is 24, Harrington is 24, ONeal is 25, Tinsley is 26, Fred Jones is 25, Croshere is 29, Bender is 23, Foster is 27. Along with Detroit, Indy should be the best team in the Eastern Conference. Plus, I think the gap between Indy and the Western Conf teams will decrease. Shaq is only getting older, Kobe might leave the Lakers, Kings have several decisions to make regarding their roster, etc.

Monkey,

Good point but this Pacers team is worse than when they had Brad Miller. The East is just also worse. Pistons will get better though. Prince can be a good player.

Your right, the league will get shook up so much that us talking about it will seem funny when Kobe is a Pacer and Shaq is 600 lbs.

Wil,

I just saw Matrix 3. Absolutely terrible. The movie being so bad made me realize the star was Keanu Reeves. I had to nix the avatar.

What do you mean dreaded?

Tell me, How does Morpheus gain 50 lbs eating liquid food. Guy looked like an SnL spoof flying around.

I still haven't seen Matrix one. As far as dreaded goes, well in your previous life you could be a tad acidic on these boards, thus the term dreaded.

Do yourself a favor and stop after the first Matrix.

BillDozer:

Four things that could have improved The Matrix: Reloaded

I'm not going to review this movie like I normally would, but instead, I'll point out a few ways the Wachowski Brothers could have improved the movie. Before that, I'll say this much about it:

The image above summarizes everything. While it wasn't the holocaust that was Star Wars: Episode I, it was a let down even if you had low expectations: packed full of "deep" philosophical notions, straight out of a Philosophy 101 class full of aging hippies with nappy haircuts. I hate to say it, but they some how managed to make fight scenes boring (something I didn't think was physically possible until I watched this movie--they were too long with no pay off, unless you consider Neo running away like a pussy in every scene a pay off). I know most of you who liked this movie are probably reading this and saying "STUPID MADOX [sic]! YOU JUST DIDN'T GET IT." Oh no, I got it, it's just that once I got it, I didn't want it anymore. There are going to be websites popping up left and right trying to justify this movie, trying to rationalize everything, but there's one thing all these geeks are forgetting: just because a movie makes sense, doesn't mean it's good. There are plenty of movies that make sense, and are about as entertaining as a box of pig shit. So without further ado, here's how the movie could have been improved:

1. Replacing Keanu Reeves with a wooden plank with a mean face on it.

The subtle point here is the mean face: without it, Reeves would be on par with a wooden plank, except a bit more rigid. He approaches every scene with the steadfast determination of a moron running into a wall. I have a theory as to why Keanu's acting is so shitty: a long time ago when he "made it big" with Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, a lot of people were probably trying to kiss his ass because he became a huge celebrity and people are shallow, so they have to fill their boring lives with trivial bullshit like clinging onto celebrities. Since then, he has surrounded himself by suck-ups, and everyone's too afraid to tell him that his acting sucks. It's never going to change, because Keanu (what kind of name is that anyway? Sounds like a foreign car company) keeps surrounding himself by suck-ups, so he'll keep making shitty movies forever. At least if they replaced him with a wooden plank, the plank would have an excuse to have the same stupid look on its face all the time.

2.

I wouldn't have minded this movie so much if I would have remembered to bring my Game Boy Advance to the theater. At least then I could have practiced murdering vampires instead of being patronized by stupid bullshit about "causality." Good job you shrubs, you've managed to surface the underlying philosophy of just about every other movie in existence. Man I hate people.

3. A blow job.
Nothing fancy, just a good old fashioned pole polishing.

4. A time machine so you can go back in time and warn yourself not to see The Matrix: Reloaded.

Even if you disagree with everything bad I've said about this movie, there's one point I think everyone can agree on: Keanu Reeves' ass does not need to be seen, ever. Not only do they show you his pasty white ass, they do it in the most contemptible way possible: right after a titty scene. They try to trick you into popping a boner, then WHAM. Keanu's corn hole. There's an acceptable degree to how many times his ass can be shown in a movie, and that degree is either 0, or negative (negative means that Keanu Reeves' ass gets cut off, which would rule). On a side note, in case you get in an argument with a Matrix nerd cult member, the "Keanu's ass" argument always wins. It's like playing rock, paper, scissors and sucker punch to the throat. The sucker punch always wins. Don't believe me? Try it: next time a Matrix nerd starts rambling on about "Christological symbolism" and other geeky shit that nobody cares about, just say the magic words. I guarantee you'll either win the argument, or give the impression that you're an acute homophobe. Either way you win.. sort of.

Coach says he would welcome the veteran guard's presence on a team that will probably see some roster changes before next season.

Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle expects significant changes to his roster this summer, but the loss of Reggie Miller isn't likely to be one of them.

Carlisle met with the media today for the first time since the Pacers were eliminated from the Eastern Conference finals by Detroit on Tuesday. His team won a franchise-record 61 games and broke the three-year string of first-round playoff exits, but lost to the Pistons in six games.

"I don't think this team will be back in our exact form next year," Carlisle said. "I just think there will be some changes, through free agency, the draft or trades. There's going to be some things that are different, without question."

Kenny Anderson and Jamison Brewer are the Pacers' only free agents, although Anthony Johnson can opt out of his contract if he wants.

Al Harrington, who was runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year honors in his sixth season with the Pacers, has drawn the most speculation regarding a trade.

"This has been a tough situation for Al," Carlisle said. "I view him as a starter in this league. As the summer progresses we'll see what takes form. If there was the opportunity for him to be a starter here, that would be great. If there isn't, it may be time for him to move on to another team."

Carlisle said Miller, who turns 39 in August, has said nothing to him that makes him think he won't return next season, but acknowledged the possibility of retirement.

"When you get to be that age, there are a lot of things to consider," Carlisle said. "But I'm hopeful that he'll play. Very much so."

There has been some speculation that Miller might come off the bench next season, but Carlisle said he doubts that would happen.

"If he returns for an 18th year my feeling would be he probably would be a starter next year," Carlisle said.

The players have not been made available to the media.
