SEATTLE (AP) AL Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay missed his scheduled start for Toronto against Seattle on Tuesday night because of a sore right shoulder.
Halladay, 5-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 11 starts this season, will be examined by a doctor in Seattle. Blue Jays manager Carlos Tosca hopes Halladay will be able to pitch by Sunday.
''There's a little discomfort in there,'' manager Carlos Tosca said. ''We're just not going to take any chances.''
Halladay, 26, was replaced Tuesday by left-hander Jason Kershner, who has made 19 relief appearances for the Blue Jays this season. He had never started a game in the major leagues.
