Duncan barely........But as bad as I hate to admit it, neither's better than Shaq, although I don't like comparing different positions...

wow what a question.

Garnett is such an intense player. can do so many other things a big man cant. I get to see him here in Minnesota and I love him

But Duncan so gifted and dominant.

Id say YES to both.

Duncan is the best OVERALL player in the league - PERIOD - he has two rings to prove it - Garnett has won nothing and nothing will change after this season - and Robinson was a role player in both championships.

Assuming everyone had three years under their belt, all were injury free and all had good attitudes, etc., and the GM's could pick any player for their team - it would look like this:

1. Shaq or Duncan (50% of GMs would go either way)
3. Garnett
4. Kobe
5. McGrady or Ming.

Best centers in the NBA:
1- Duncan
2- Ming
3- Shaq

shaq is an empty uniform in close games, the guy doesnt want the ball in the 4th qtr when the game is close with 2 or less minutes left. When was the last time this donkey made a game winning basket? Its always Kobe or somebody else. Shaq is overrated.

A fun debate, even with KG still improving I would have to say Duncan, a slight edge...

Duncan has two rings, meanwhile KG has only been past the 1st rd once. But obviously Timmy has had better players ... The West will be very entertaining AGAIN this year! I LOVE PLAYOFF BASKETBALL! Reg season, forget it!

Dueling 21s. Duncan has to get the slight edge for consistency, and accomplishment. Overall athetic ability KG is a little more flashy. Not an easy choice in any case.

I don`t think 50% of GM`s would take Shaq at this stage. Duncan still peaking , Shaq`s career is 75% over..

Shaq refuses to get in real shape, he will just keep breaking down, the guy must weigh 375!

and it's really not as close as most would think. you all really need to look at the stats, and also consider the supporting casts over the years!

defensively it's a mismatch -- garnett is one of the best in the league -- he, like MJ, has worked very diligently on his D, and it shows!

offensively, it is a little closer, but garnett takes it with his versatility -- he can/has literally played all 5 spots offensively!!!

intangible, both possess a hard work ethic, but once again garnett is on top -- he's more agressive -- he will literally will the team to win at times!

GARNETT!!!!!!!!!!!

Journeyman, Kevin Garnetts team have never it past the first round of the playoffs. His team has not won a playoff series yet, But I agree with you that slight edge goes to Duncan 2-time playoff mvp,2 championship rings, 3 season mvps, enough said.

Hansen are you kidding? KG is hands down better on D than Duncan? Please, Duncan is a monster on both ends of the floor. Not to mention when he gets doubled he has great passing skills to get it to an open teammate. When KG is covered he tends to see what he can create and often takes a tough shot. Passing and defense are why Duncan has two rings. He used both so well last year while everyone is just focusing on his points and rebounds.
