Literally hundreds of credit cards are offering some kind of bonus these days to sign-up with them ranging from instast cash vouchers, rebates, percentage back on amount charged, free balance transfers, etc., etc.

The credit card business is starting to mirror offshore sportsbooks in the bonus programs they are offering to customers.

Are any of you taking advantage of this golden oppurtunity in the credit card world?

I will freely admit it, I am attacking them!

Speaking of 5% rebates, if your a AAA member, they are offering members a credit card with a 5% rebate on EVERY gasoline purchase.

Considering gasoline prices currently, this is one I would certainly recommend.

I think credit card companies (at least some of them ) are in trouble. A few weeks ago, one of my old Visa accts (FNANB) was sold to Fleet Boston. I jus closed the account.

Another thing, if anyone saw NBC Nightly News on Thursday; there was a peace on Credit Card Companies--changing your rate, even IF YOU were paying them ON TIME. (Something about they do a credit creck and look to see if anyone else is being slow paid---then they have the right--to increase YOUR fees!!) Talk about a liscense to STEAL!

LOL, don't kid yourself, sick gambler can't even get a credit card due to his shitty credit.

Fishhead, one word of advice, you may want to check your fico score before advising people to open other credit card accounts because of what it can do to your credit rating to have too many. Go to myfico.com to check you fico score if you are curious....btw.......my score is top

Thanks Clev, well aware of that and very good advice indeed.

I check my score every 6-9 months and it is very good.

Dante- Unless of course you have more than enough credit to buy your house with the credit cards themselves.

Having said that, even if one has over $150,000 in available credit on their credit cards and they have no balances and a long history of outstanding credit, dont think it would really matter how many cards an individual actually has.

Banks like lending money to individuals with solid credit.

Now if they had 60%+ of their available credit used up on their cards, that may be a different story.

I've been doing this since the early 1990's when I spun around my student loans (BOA 5% cash back).

Ove the last few years, I and others helped bankrupt the Egghead card (1% on transfers, free float).

Last year had over $60,000, mostly at 0%, none over 1.9%.

Now, Chase 0% for life (around 10,000), MBNA 0% for 12 months for $35,000, total cost $50 fee.
