NASCAR has completely dwarfed Indy racing in the last 10 years.

To answer your question........no, I could really care less.

Having said that however, I will tune in to possibly watch the start of the race as well as the final couple laps.

Thanks for asking Marine.

Its not the same as being there. I've been to the race 4 times. 3 times in the first turn and Its one of the few places to where it sends shivers down my spine walking into that venue. Its like Hockey in that you have to be there. Most racing I could care less about including overrated Nascar but his event is spetacular in its Spectator environment

"500" refers to the average number of TV spectators of this yawner event.

No, but it is a bit sad. The Indy 500 was indeed at one time "the greatest spectacle in racing".

One of my most looked forward to sports events of the year when I was a kid.

350,000-400,000 ever year at this track. Its a bigger party then Mardi Gras as far as the surrounding neighborhoods are concerned for that whole weekend

The nest day you drive up to Wrigley and catch a game. Makes for a great weekend. My son enjoyed it last year

I went to the last Indy 500 before they split up and I have also been to the Nascar race here in Vegas. Indy was a real thrill and the Nascar race here was boring. I'm not saying Nascar is boring everywhere, just here in Vegas as the track isn't open enough to provide much passing but is more a race of attrition as to who wins all depends on engines and pit stops but not much passing etc. Very slow for me ! I'm not planning on going to Indy again either but it is still the best venue for a Car race ! Which Nascar track offers the most thrills ?

Coca Cola 600 is where the action is tomorrow!

Why does Robby Gordon waste his time trying to run both races, everybody knows his sorry ass can't win either damn one! Matter of fact,I'll say he doesn't finish top 15! What a joke this guy is!!

I agree Robby Gordon is the most overrated Driver I can ever remember. I could care less about the Coca Cola race, Don't even know where it is or want to know. Indianapolis motor Speedway is right up there with Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field. Lambuea Field, Churchill Downs as one of Americas Sport Shrines

Agree with Fezzik's post above.......

Catching up to the 500 and pretty soon to Nascar also that this is one of the most boring spectacles of all time with the most overrated and overpaid participants in history...

Still think they need to add a baseball diamond to the infield....then the rednecks could get two tickets to boredom for the price of one.

If you haven't been to the Indy 500, then you really don't know the thrill of joining close to 1/2 Million spectators in the greatest Race Track in the World. The quality of the Racers has diminished but the Track is still far and away the best !I hope someday soon the best drivers will return to make this race what it used to be.

"1/2 million spectators" = 1/2 million rednecks.

...."I hope someday soon the best drivers will return to make this race what it used to be"...

It used to be endless miles of making left turns and driving in a circle, and uh, it still is.

Most Car races are simply making left turns but it seems to me that Car Racing is certainly drawing fans whether they are Rednecks or whatever. Indy 500 is still the best attended sporting event in the World so I quess somebody cares. I actually am bored to death watching a NBA game anymore where the Referees decide so many of the games and a endless stroll to the free throw line. How exciting is that ?

There is no substituting that power seeing 11 rows of 3 cars coming into that first turn at those speeds. I like Football, Baseball,Golf, coll hoops, skiing, and other sports alot more then Auto Racing, but I haven't felt a rush like that seeing that spectacle in person. You can't describe it unless you feel and see it. Its kind of like somebody telling you about a view climbing Angel Falls Landing In Zion Nat.Park. Unless you've done and seen it, photograghs or TV doesn't do justice. Thats why people keep going back there, because they have felt that rush.
