Bullpens Really Suck This Year

Even prior to last night.

American League:

Cleveland, 6-14, 6.57 ERA 14 blown saves in 18 opportunities. ERA is a run and a 1/2 worse then the next worst bullpen in baseball.

Seattle, 8-10, 4.55 ERA 8 blown saves in 16 opportunities.

Toronto, 8-13 4.52 ERA 6 saves. Will be going with "closer-by-choice" rather than by committee. Good Luck.

Kansas City has led five games this season going into the ninth and ended up losing. Jeremy Affeldt taken out of rotation and installed as new closer.

National League:

Arizona, 6-9 5.13 7 saves. Staff on pace to walk 700 this year. Relievers afraid to throw strikes. As of last night's performance; Elmer Dessens, demoted from starter recently, is the probable next closer.

Colorado, 5-7 4.84 ERA, blown 7 of 17 save opportunities.

San Francisco, 10-8 4.48 ERA.

And as of yesterday: Chicago. If for no reason other than the two walk offs in one day trick last night.

Florida not in the top three pens? Their closer, Benitez is 19 for 20 in save opportunities with an ERA of 0.31. You can't be much better than that.

Agreed Mango Man. My oversight.

The Jays are brutal, not just the pen but the bats as well.

Florida could use some better middle relief, but their set-up man Perisho has been doing well and Benitez is officially da man this year. Hasn't given up an earned run in something like 27 innings.
