Thats right The Boston RedSox (Ok tied with the Angels) at 29-17. The Yanks are right on their heals at 27-18 a game and a half back. Baltimore, Toronto and Tampa Bay are all under 500 and trailing the two big boys. With Nomar and Trot Nixon due back within the next month it looks as if the Sox will contend all year. Manny and David Ortiz have prooved to be a potent 1-2 punch in the middle of the Sox lineup. Manny leads the AL in Homers and Ortiz in RBI. Keith Foulke has been close to un-hitable a closer. Both Yanks and Red Sox will look to improve before trade deadline in late July - don't be surprized to see Randy Johbson on one of the staffs for the stretch run.

Mets are at 23-23 which is not bad for them. I am glad to see Tom Glavine pitch well so far this year.

The Phils are playing some nice ball considering missing Thome, having Byrd and Anderson not get on base much, and lack of many 3 run dingers.

Phils pitching and pen has been solid to date, and they've looked as good as any NLer after their 1-7 start.

However, they may need a bench bat/platooner, or even a good leadoff man by trade deadline, if the top two in the order don't improve their OBP?

Philly, Chi, and Hou all look good, but not in Boston or NYY's league in star quality..but may be an equal match for Anaheim's pitching should the Angels advance?

Boston and NYY will resemble Cold War nukes race by trade dealine..that's for sure.
