I had an idea Sunday afternoon. So I ran it by Rasheed Wallace, the Pistons forward with the little numbers and the big promises, as he sat in the bleachers of the Pacers' practice court and got his foot taped. One thing NBA players love more than anything, it's input from guys like me.
"Since you guaranteed you'll win Game 2 tonight, why not put your game check on it?" I asked. "If you lose, you write a check to your favorite charity?"
Wallace looked far into the distance. His face was expressionless. He shook his head.
"We WILL win Game 2," he said flatly.
I persisted. It's my nature. I'm actually considering my own tattoo: Born To Annoy."But wouldn't it be more interesting if you actually put money behind the guarantee?" I wondered...
