Fezzik's article brings up an interesting topic.

"Las Vegas is also about winning. The residents will support a successful team, but want no part of a mediocre one. Look at UNLV basketball attendance during down years."

How many cities actually support a mediocre team?

Cleveland is known as a loyal blue-collar sports town. But check out Cavs attendance before LeBron. And this year the Indians are setting all-time low records for Jacobs Field.

Sacramento? Denver? Boston? Detroit?

Boston to some extent supports their teams even during losing years. The Celtics this year were a good example, a losing record and swept out of the playoffs in the first round, they still draw well. The Bruins and Red Sox are the same, natrually when any team is involved in a championship chase they draw much better. Almost any major city in the US will come out to see a winner, witness Miami during last years baseball playoffs. Put the Indians in first place in September and the city would go nuts.
