does anyone know how they could have calculated a Beyer figure for the Derby with the track muddy for the last 3 races? is that done with any science behind it?

And Smarty got a 107 and Lion Heart a 103?

he was less than 3 lengths behind why is he 4 points lower?

anyone understand in detail Beyer figures.

Just my opinion, but I think they would have to cut the race loose and fit it to back numbers, in this case deciding to pair up Smarty's 107 last. Maybe on another day someone else could've decided eg Limehouse banged in a third successive 100, in which case Smarty would have to given a 112. With no clock it's just how they see what gives the best 'fit' on the basis of they've already done.

On the second point at 10f 1L = 1.5pts, so Lion Heart beaten 2.75L * 1.5pts = 4.125pts

I'm no expert on Beyer though, so I will defer.
