Teaching clients about money management...

Anybody (legit touts or otherwise) have some advice on teaching clients better money management skills and actually have them apply it? I have a pretty strict money management system, because I believe that is one of the keys to making money in sports gambling long-term, but for the life of me I can't get some of my more "immature" clients to stick to it.

For example... I'll have a guy using my service and I'll have a 13-5 week or something like that. But at the end of the week he's in the red because "I put it all on the Lakers because I thought it was a lock and they blew it!". He's paid for my handicapping, I've produced a solid week, but he's still managed to get himself in the hole! Normally wouldn't be a huge problem for me, but guys like this deplete their bankrolls so quickly that they go from a regular client to "I'm done with gambling." -- despite me producing long-term winners for them.

Are clients like this just a lost cause? Is there any amount of advice/education that will keep them from just throwing their money on a lock (read: hunch)?

Hell, I almost feel like hammering out a set of small bets that more or less go against each other (without being too obvious) just so that they can have action on every game and just be out the juice -- would be better than them throwing down 50% of their bankroll on the square side of some NBA game!

Any advice?

NOT MUCH YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT, NOT LIKE YOU CAN STOP THE GUY FROM BETTING HIS OWN GAMES OR CAN MAKE HIM PLAY YOUR SPECIFIED UNITS! THE TRUTH IS.... MOST GAMBLERS DONT HAVE THE DISCIPLINE REQUIRED TO MAKE A LIVING AT THIS!

One of the toughest yet most important things to learn in sports gambling. I don't know how you teach it either. We can explain over and over and yet we will see day in and day out examples of terrible money management. I think at some point players either decide sports gambling is not for them or they learn to take steps that will assist in their profiting while wagering. Learning to use good money management is a must learn if you have any desire to be a longterm winner.

Guys like that simply should not be betting, you should just ask him to leave since in the end no matter how good your tips are he will be broke.

I bet a lot of sports. My 2 "best" bets in the past two weeks were ones where I got +120 and +110 and the closing lines were -110 and -120.

Guess what? Both lost! But due to conservative money management and a good strike rate, the last 2 weeks have been 2 of my best ever.

Some people will NEVER learn that there is no such thing as a lock bet. PERIOD, end of story.

That is what makes being a bookmaker and / or casino so profitable.

Tell the guy that if he is betting for purely entertainment then his staking is fine. If he is betting for profit, he is an IDIOT and one of the IGNORANT tossers Warren Buffet wants to ban from this game. Be downright rude to the guy.

there's no way to teach this to people. I came on these boards last year to learn more and improve my betting...but this is something that I haven't learned yet. I have lost 3 months of profits on 1 bet twice, and am just now figuring it out...

It is hard to get pros to use some mm systems. The Novices find it there bain. All you can do is recommend one and let them go. I have one of the worst. I try to show a profit everyday. and will bet the last game if I am down -$95 with 1 game to play. I will take the best # on the side or total I kie and bet enough to show me the money.
