Seems to be a question that comes up here over and over.

What size play does it take for 4 hours to get full RFB in Vegas.

Upper level places to lower level.

CERTIFIABLY CRAZY
posted November 04, 2003 07:02 AM
Tips:
1. Read Max Rubin's book "Comp City" and Jean Scott's "The Frugal Gambler"

2. Ask what the criteria in average bet and time played.

3. Ask specifically about : casino rate (the discounted room rate for qualified gamblers), comp rooms (Free room), and RFB (Room, food, and beverage). They should be able to give you a definitive answer.

4. Realize that all is not equal and a $25 average bet might not even get you a buffet at Bellagio, but could get you a RFB at a downtown joint.

5. Be inquisitive, but courteous to all parties: hosts, bosses, dealers, etc. I can tell you for a fact the nicer you are to employees and they more they enjoy seeing you the more strings they will pull for you (i.e. higher average bets, free tickets, buffets, advice, etc.)

6. Don't try and skimp or cheat them on their rating of you. If they feel you are trying to pull something over on them, they may downgrade you or not rate you all together.

7. Tip: Even dealers and cocktail waitresses can say a few words or have connections higher up that may get you more than you actually deserve.

8. Make them want you to come back. If they value you as a customer and want your repeat business, they will bend over backwards for you.

9. If you don't ask, you won't get. The worst they can say is no. However, don't ask for 12 to the gourmet room when you've played 10 bucks a hand for 2 hours, be realistic.

10. Finally, be courteous. Casino staff deal with all kinds of ignorant a**holes tourists day in and day out. If you get to know them personally they will remember you and do anything for you. An example is a customer I knew remembered the shift boss's birthday and brought him some cookies she made. Needless to say, after that she got just about anything she asked for.

Hope that helps.

depends alot on your casino host.

first stay with a casino

plan on avg 100 play or better low end

avg 500 play on the high end

alot of the places for return players will give you full comp for 8 hrs at 25 or better play

if you follow the guidelines in will's post

General:

Forms used to be free if you returned them. That was in the good old days. Now, most places charge a small fee. Maybe if you beg.

Maybe I get lucky and the guy handing out the forms has asked me for help in the past and he can give me one.

Whatever MGM says you need to get comped they are lying. They do a poor job rating you and comping you.

comp wise if you played the dollar slots you could get good food and bev comps.

I dont think they will even rate you under 10 on a table if you are lucky enough to find a 5 dollar table

Does that mean all MGM properties (like The Mirage) or just MGM itself (The shitty noisy neon garage, in my opinion)

As someone who works in the business, I can tell you the best advice is to befriend someone who can make a difference in your comps. If you scratch their back, they will scratch yours.

panther,
without knowing your action, I couldn't tell you what you should or shouldn't get, but at 100/hand, 4 hrs a day, that is RFB no question.

Agree with above post...MGM is horrible at comping. Played craps for about 6 hours with minimum bet passline $20.00 and on MOST hands had the table filled with up $500.00. They comp'd 1 buffet. Now would The Mirage, Treasure Island and the Nugget comp the same, since they are all owned by MGM-Mirage. Or would they comp different because they are different properties.

The world would be a whole lot better if everyone

I, without any embellishment can say that I have gotten HUGE comps while risking very little in terms of my bankroll. How have I managed this? First of all, I have gotten close to a good host. Secondly, I only play the don't pass, and only let each player beat me for one roll. I learned this from a good friend, and it has worked out very well. The casinos have me at an average bet of $400.00 per hand, and the odds of me losing more than 2k at a sitting are very low. Many times I break even, and many times i actually win. You need to do this at the bigger casinos, and you will do great with comps. I get nice suites and nice dinners at the Palms, Bellagio, etc. I swear that I don't risk a lot considering how over-comped I am a lot of times. GL to all, but always know that you have to go in willing to lose some coin in exchange for the concert tix, good dinners, and nice rooms.
