New details tonight regarding the proposed casino in Orange County, Indiana. A partnership that includes Indiana basketball legend Larry Bird has announced his plans behind his bid on the Orange County effort.
The group seeks to operate a riverboat casino on a manmade waterway near historic hotels in French Lick and West Baden Springs. Bird's deal could provide 682 more jobs, with an annual payroll of nearly 19 million dollars.
The Orange County development group says the economic impact would top 138 million dollars, and create more than 11 hundred jobs in other industries.
Two other groups are bidding against Bird for the casino rights; one of those groups is led by Donald Trump. The Indiana Gaming Commission plans to choose one of those groups for the casino license later this summer.
