Are there any other Pinny-esque shops...besides Pinny?

Pinnacle is the world's greatest book in my opinion...lightning fast payouts, great lines (with incredible volatility) etc. etc.

But this ain't a commercial. Actually, I'm curious if anyone knows of any other books that are in the same league -- primary requirements being discounted juice and quick payouts with no frills.

I don't need a book that'll take $5K on a game, nor do I need a book that has a lot of bells & whistles and props and graphics of naked chicks etc. Just straight up wagering opportunities at discount prices with quick payouts.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Very very very very hard to argue with the fact that Pinnacle is #1. We are very proud of the progress we have made at the Rio International Group, but they are clearly #1, and IMO, right now nobody is close. IMO, it will be very difficult for a book to seriously close the gap unless Pinnacle implodes themselves, which doesn't seem likely. They are very well managed, and are the prototype that all books should strive to become.

Dogs - why not give IIS (International Island Sportsbook) a try. A member of the Rio family of books, they are well thought of. Reduced juice on all major sports. For a link go to our preferred books page.

I think IIS is up there pretty close to Pinnacle if you don't bet more than a nickel a game. Can't beat the 105 juice on NBA and NFL and baseball vig is better than most places.

I also consider IIS to be number 2 after Pinnacle for those who aren't bothered by the $500 limits. Very solid shop -- worth a look IMO.

IIS is good for halves, baseball, totals, some football, but their sister Skybook is better for most hoops sides because the free half point is worth more than the 5 cents saved at IIS.

my reduced juice shops

1 pinnacle (the standard)
2 hollywood (-107 on everything, great book)
3 international island (great because they offer -105 on halftimes also and good baseball numbers
4 canbet (hmm, slipping in my opinion but can get some good numbers)
5 sirbet (not my favorite, bad website but can catch some nice lines

my biggest bet is not over 500, so i dont know how you would be treated if you are a larger bettor and a winner

i wish there were more books like those mentioned above. i cant imagine paying -110 on anything unless im getting a half point from the reduced shops which sometimes happens.

with football approaching, check out some books that offer very low juice (-102) during the week. you can find some great bargains if you put in your wagers before gameday

good luck

I imagine the problem most books have is in order to offer the kind of reduced juice that pinn does, you need two things. 1) money to hire really good linesman. You can't afford to hire guys who fall asleep at the wheel, or guys who are just ging to copy lines off of dons best. You need guys who really know what they are doing. 2) you need a very large customer base. If you are a reduced vig shop, your expectancy per bet is only half that of what other shops are getting. Furthermore, your over head for the wagering department is higher because presumeably you've hired better than average linesman. So you need more than twice the average volume to compensate. ANotherthing to note is that pinn saves money by not having people call them. Would be very hard for a new book to get away without having a call center. Megasb is rying to become the next pinn. But their reduced juice is very limited. And for the most part if you had to choose between reupping at pinn or megasb, it would almost always make more sense to reup at pinn. My guess is taht to create a true competitor to pinn would take a long time and would burn through a lot of cash before it became profitable.

IIS doesn't offer reduced juice for hockey. I'd say Hollywood is a distant second to Pinnacle for hockey betting.

shows 105 for me. I would call them to fix the problem so you what you have coming.
My top 3 are Pinnacle, skybook, jazz. They have all treated me fairly, and i always get something better than the norm at all of them.

Shill - not being a smartass or anything becauase I find you an asset to the boards. Just wondering if Pinnacle is number one, what does your site have to do to be there? Or better yet, what are your perceived weaknesses? I will check your site out. Thanks.

I appreciate your comments. The thing that I think makes me more objective than a lot of sportsbook people is the fact that I am, like you, a gambler. I try to bring that mentality to Rio/Skybook and facilitate changes based on what other books provide and Rio lacks. IMO, Rio is not yet in the league of Pinnacle based on the fact that Pinnacle is ahead in terms of processing, the fact that they don't time out as much, and the fact that they simply offer more betting options than the majority of books out there. Are we bridging the gap? I would say yes, but they simply click on all cylinders, and very few others do. As a gambler, I really never ever have a problem with them. What makes me happy is that rio/skybook as of late gets a lot more positive commentary than ever. However, IMO for now, Pinnacle is what we are all striving to become. Are we a book that I feel proud to be associated with? Yes. Do we want to get a lot better? That answer is also yes. Thanks again for your comments, and if we can do anything to make your experience with us better, please don't hesitate to ask.
