Call the Bill Polian Show on Mondays at Q95 in Indy and talk to Bill. I did last week and got 4 free 6" Subways. I may be a coach before it's over. Of course Marty and I can negotiate

1997:

Colts owner Robert Irsay died Jan. 14 and the team passed to his son, Jim. The first-round draft pick was Tarik Glenn. Adam Meadows was acquired in the second round. Indicative of the ongoing frustration and futility of the team, was a confrontation between Jim Harbaugh and Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly during which Harbaugh broke his hand. The injury-plagued Colts did not win a game until the 11th game of the season, and finished the year 3-13. Assuming responsibility for his team, Jim Irsay cleaned house in December, firing both coach Linde Infante and director of football operations Bill Tobin. He then named Bill Polian president of the team.

My suugestion would have came in handy today for sure. He can't kick it to the 10.

I was questioning Vanderjagts ability on kickoffs and suggesting an IR and pick up better kicker for kickoffs.

Half the time the GENERAL was sucking up to Bill telling him what a fine draft pick he made in Dallas Clark.

A kicker, not a challenger

The Colts' decision to draft Penn State place-kicker David Kimball in the seventh round ended a long drought. The last time they drafted a place-kicker was in 1988 when they chose Syracuse's Tim Vesling in the 12th round.

Before anyone jumped to an erroneous conclusion, it should be stressed that Kimball is being brought in to handle kick-off duties. He isn't even a remote threat to incumbent place-kicker Mike Vanderjagt.

"I have felt, and Mike disagrees, that Mike doesn't kick off well enough," Polian said. "We felt like if we could get a guy who could create field position for us, that was as good as drafting a defensive player.

"We drafted him because we felt we could not have gotten him as a free agent."
