In many fields 20 year old forgoe college for the fast money in their field. The fact the Clarett is forbidden to do so is obscene. In the Computer programming/software field fresh and soph routinely dropout of college for 6 figure jobs. Is this a free country or not. I thought this was a slam dunk case, yet again I am wrong about the place I live.

The union negotiated the rule in. Thats why Clarett lost. A computer programmer does not work in a closed association like the NFL, nor do people pay to see a programmer work.

I am in the steelworkers union. A union that doesn't represent the workers is a poor union. I also think Clareet is not a major talent but for sure would go in the top 2 or 3 rounds insuring him of a 6 digit income.

i like the ruling..remember he put himself in a no win situation...he's a slacker who likes to blame everyone but wants everything...

exactly AVS. this wasnt a feel good story from the start. . . .this never came about until he blew it with ohio state. becuase he blows his opportunity in college and happens to have a little bit of talent he looks for a bail out and wastes everyone's time including his.

i have been involved in unions my entire adult working life and the one thing i can tell you is that NOTHING in the contract can contridict any state or federal laws.

i dont understand how this is not age discrimination.

so I guess we should let 16 year olds fly fighter jets if they want to? Clarett is not bigger than the game.

I do feel bad for Mike Williams though.

johnny,

i dont understand your comparison with a minor flying jets to an adult playing a sport.

how about if we compare it like this...

if an 18 year old can be sent to war, a 19 year old should be allowed to play football.

fair enough?

I do not see how this is legal? I think that Clarett is a little no talent punk but this rule is ridiculous.
You go to college to get skills or whatever to go out and get a job that pays the most $ so you can support your family (or your posse). If you want to leave school and go apply your trade how can they say "oh you are not old enough to play in our league" I could see if there were other leagues and this 1 league had this rule then its okay because there are options, but to just deny someone a right to earn a living because you want to keep a free minor league system in place is a joke.
And this whole Mike Williams thing is total bull$h!t, he leaves after a ruling and now he gets completely dicked around.

Let everyone be eligible and if teams want them let them draft em, if they do not think they can make it than don't. But to deny the option is just garbage.
