I am simply sick of my local. Shitty rules and horrible hours. I like 24 hour service and the i net. i find it hard to believe that locals can survive unless the u.s. shuts down off shore.

I'm using a "local" now. His last name is "Stations."

Kiss1, how is life on the lake? Starting to get warm I'm sure, but the heat is not really a problem once you get used to it.

I find the relationship between a sharp and a local to be a good metaphor for the relationship between the legitimate civil world and the underworld. Normally the two operate on completely different planes but this is one area where the two interesect. There are some very interesting sociological implications here that I like to ponder over so I do my best to keep some contact with a local. But if yours is not offering anything of value then of course it's pointless. Some locals offer some very nice deals, though.

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL

100% agree. whenever i wanna play a dog - i know i can get 1/2-point or $.10 more with him - so i do. same thing goes with playing the UNDER, too - i can usually get an extra 1/2 to 1 point with him.

I use both .
My guy lives near philly so I always get an extra point or so betting vs the Iggles or Sixers.

If more people behaved as honestly as a bettor and his local bookie as far as honesty and meeting to pay and all of that I think the world would be a better place.

Must be some great deals in hawaii. I heard the books there move heavily.

Mr NJ Sports nailed it. Locals often have a regional bias in the lines. So if you bet the local teams, a combination of books(local&offshore) is best.
Barring injuries, the Eagles should be Favs at least 12 weeks. So the locals will come in handy this year.

The best way to catch a middle is bet a local and bet offshore right before game time! I've seen and caught many middles this way!

The good and bad part about offshore is that you have to send the $ in advance. Sometimes instead of just betting your games you are saying "If I lose this then I only have this amount left ....." Sometimes it puts you in a negative kind of thinking. That part is also good because you will not think of doubling up or other stupid crap that will get you hammered and killed.

Windyduck,

The majority of the players around here that I know haven't the slightest clue what an underdog or under is.

Players that have only expierience with locals can very seldon get over the hump of having to deposit the money up front. It is like sacrilege or something. makes them mad when they have used up their balance offshore and cannot bet anymore that day.

Dante, the guys I know here give me credit which is easy to deal with. We have a settle figure and we only pay up at that time. There are multiple advantages to using a local book. Anyone who refuses to use one is not taking full advantage of the edges that are available.

I just went back to my local a couple of weeks ago after he added a website which is now much more convenient than having to call him all of the time.I don't have to front any money, have a $5,000 credit there (could of been more), and don't have to pay any transfer fees back and forth. Not as many props, etc., but with all of the above, and the way things have been going offshore lately, I'll go this route for a while.....
