And one of the more bizarre rules of that era regarded BUNTING....
YOU COULD ACTUALLY BUNT A BALL THAT ENDED UP FOUL, BUT IF IT HIT IN FAIR TERRITORY FIRST, IT WAS ALLOWED!!!

From what I remember reading, players would purposely put english on the ball so it would end up way in foul territory,lol...I think even some of Ty Cobb's years this may have been allowed still...
Another oldtime characteristic of the game, photographers....the guys would be right out there on the field, for instance near the on deck area, taking pictures just a few feet away from the action,lol...Can you imagine this stuff today!!??
