If you took a $70 shirt that you've had for less than a year and had drycleaned at a cleaners and it came back damaged with possibly no solution of it being repaired. What recourse do you have realistically if that shirt remains damaged?

I had a shirt that was dry cleaned 3 or 4 times at one cleaners with no damage and I decided to try and new, bigger cleaners. Well they screwed up my shirt and acting as if it's not their fault. We'll try this solution and etc.. Asked the guy how did this happen said dyed ran but not their fault. I've heard cleaners have customers by the balls in instances like this and taking them to small claims is a moot point unless it is a expensive garment because after you pay the fees and you win you will not get the full price of the shirt back because it is not brand new and has been worn.

Anybody been through this before and what did you do to resolve the situation?

I know this isn't sports related, mods so I understand if you move the thread. Good day folks!

Possibly but it's their what seems to be. "hey bud we're doing you a favor" attitude which is pissing me off. I am almost taking this as a matter of principle than the cost of the shirt. The shirt can be replaced brand wise but it was an unique shirt by me but it really seems these asses think they can damage something and blame no one for it. One sec. he was blaming the manufactuer then next it's not really anyone's fault. I should've stuck with the cleaners I know but wanted to give this place a try because it's closer to me and more "corporate". So much for that. I can contact the better business bureau but these guys are so corporate they probably have the cleaners in their back pockets.

Suggestion--Sit in or near their parking lot and tell a few of their customers about your problem. Worth a shot! Corporate America--F##KS the average guy daily!

Call the local news. They will investigate it for you. Maybe this place has had other complaints.

Go 2 guy
What type of people run that dry cleaning joint? Here in Atlanta the Koreans and the Indians dominate the dry cleaning business. If you are a good repeat customer they should fix it. Ask them about it in front of another customer and watch how fast they jump.

very simple...

send them a letter requesting they pay you for the shirt. tell them if they do not pay you by x and x date, you will be taking them into small claims court, and they will then be forced to pay you for a. the shirt, and b. your costs in having to file a small claims case.

small claims will get you your money within 2 months.

If they don't replace the shirt, and want to play hard ball, then you'll have a field day trashing their business...contact the Better Business Bureau, complaints.com, etc., and I'm sure there will be no shortage of other suggestions posted here...

This reminds of a "Seinfeld" episode, where the dry cleaner shrunk Jerry's sweater or shirt or something. He finally just wanted the cleaner to admit it, which he got, eventualy !

I don't have this problem. I have even forgotten how to tie a tie. I wear nothing but t-shirts (even to court !), shorts, sweatpants, and sneakers. I gave up working.

I never could figure out how an ironing board is supposed to work.

I haven't left my home for more than a grand total of 20 hours in the last 3 months, but I am recovering from a broken ankle. That will change. It's been boring, yet profitable.

I won't name the cleaners and will give them until Monday to resolve this. Yeah I know I had three accounts open with them under different phone numbers and took the bonus.......oh sorry thought I was using the forum to "persuade" the cleaners to cave in to my demands

BTW Sr. Muny you say it's just $70 shirt, it's a $70 shirt I'm out of. It makes a difference to me whether it was $7 or $70 as a matter of fact, it's about the principle now. No consumer should have to put up with crap like this. You take your clothes in to be drycleaned not damamged and be told well it's not our fault.

In situations like these cleaners, mechanics, restaurants etc in which the establishments are totally screwing me over and not making things right, I usually wait about 2 months or longer for their memory of me to diminish and then I throw a brick through their front window. I check with local glass shops for the price replacement of the window. If the price is not equal to my loss, I'll throw another till fully compensated. Justice feels great.
