I never lost one, but back in the day if
Inspired by the Gamblers Annonymous Q&A;

If I needed a score I would not be shy about putting the job second!

Getting those daytime scores during the week can be difficult if your on the job, the scorephone use to be the way to go...

Sometimes though if I had big action on a game I would do what I had to watch it...I use to work for FedEx way back and I would be out on my route, I would pull into the closest mall I could find and go right to the dept store TV section... During Bowl Season watching almost a whole football game on the job (while I was suppose to be delivering pkgs) , the worst part is the store employees lol, they give you these strange looks like "what the hell is this guy doing"? This was after XMas and the route was slow but I still should have been working....That particular time when I got back at the station my manager asked me where I was all day? I played it off not knowing what exactly he was getting at, he then said "the dispatcher was trying to contact you"....so I can answer a big YES, I did put my gambling ahead of my job....

Lesson learned, work for yourself so you can take off during these crucial times

One time I was working for B of A on a contract assignment in San Francisco and the manager of the consulting company said someone complained that I was making bets on the phone. I was stunned, I told her they were crazy. I thought back about it and it turned out that they were referring to a 5 minute call I had with a buddy of mine that had just gotten back from Vegas. He asked how I was doing on baseball since he had been gone and I told him. We talked about a couple poker games that were going on when he was in Vegas. Totally innocent stuff. I have always gone to great pains not to make bets on company equipment, if I bet these days it is all on my cell phone or at home. This whole thing pissed me off even more because a week later they asked me to leave the contract, ostensibly for the "phone betting" and other "time wasting" activities. I was wasting time because they hired me to do a job that was being held up by their IT team for days. I literally had NOTHING to do and was told to just take it easy until the IT team had finished with the issues. Still they had committed to having me for 8 weeks minimum and realized they didn't need me that much so they saw it all as an excuse to get rid of me to save themselves from the cost of living up to their contract. I talked to someone else on the job and she told me that they got rid of 6 other consultants during the same week for equally bogus reasons, the best being one girl was 25 minutes late. The reason she was late was because BART (the subway) had some closure and the train sat in a tunnel for over 30 minutes. Still reason enough for BofA to smear her name, just like they did to mine to save a few bucks. Ridiculous crap you get from Corporate America.
