This is too much lol...Funny how there`s very little thanks for the contests and time and effort that go into #1 organizing them, and #2 grading them!!
Bucsfan busts his ass running and organizing contests time and time again, myself and the other mods as well... We never see anyone showing apperciation for the people running them or the books putting up the prizes?
I have seen this for two years now, after a contest whoever is running it posts a thread congratulating the guys who win and not one person gives congratulations or thanks...

TheRx has the best contests and by far the biggest prize money, that also never gets any acknowlgement....

Its not too much to ask to thank the book or the guy running it, afterall next time it might BE YOU WINNING A COUPLE GRAND!

Just won $200 in the IIS NCAA tourney contest. So I definitely appreciate it!

With a final of UConn/GT (UConn champ) and 150 points for a tie-breaker, you would've thought I'd do better than 3rd place. But my Elite 8 was terrible. Oh well, can't complain!

Gotta disagree a little. I see people thanking Bucs and the sponsor left & right. And not just when they win.

funny journey, you dont even mention the guy that does most of the work in the NBA and beleieve me he does a lot and that is jack of hearts and we at least in that forum have thanked him numerous times for what he does and he does an outstanding job.

i have graded a whole college football season and there are usually more people who want to discuss corrections that be made but that is just the way it is.

the purpose of the contest is to get more people to come to the forum, then the forum gets more paid advertisers. and the books get more business. those are the people that deserve the most thanks and it is an uspoken thank you, but it is one that is seen in the form of dollar signs $$.

the organizers are often employees of the RX so I believe the thanks is in their pay. the person grading is also recieveing some form of compensation so that is their thanks also.

I know you want to see more 'atta-boys' journey, but I think there are enough of those. and the real thanking which is the business aspect of it must be taking place otherwise we wouldnt see so many contests.

between this and the demarco thread

FWIW - I have been thanked both privately by EM and in posts numerous times for the Skybook NBA BEST Contest. I agree about Jack of Hearts, he does yeoman's work grading various contests. Most contest players know this, and thank him often.

mvbski,

My apologies. I meant my comments for J-man, not you. Sorry for not making that clear.

Jman, i understand your point....and I agree with you on the congratulating the winner...

I'm not so worried about being thanked by all the players, although alot of them do, and i appreciate it.....But like someone said, alot of posters think that is our job, and while i am a part time mod, the contests isnt my job, its something i do because i enjoy it, and i think it helps the site.......if i didnt want to do it , i wouldnt....it can be a grind having 2-3 at the same time with the grading, but like i said, i like it...So im not worried about me...

However i do think its the least that most players could do to stop by and congratulate the winner and thank the book for the shot at free money (i am referrring to the players that were in the particular contest).....and ALOT of the players do this, but the ones that dont, i dont understand.....

My contests i come up with, I tend to try to come up with new ideas, different then u can find all over the net, so i tend to draw alot of the same players in many of my contests, especially the post up ones. such as Blue, Kiss, Darryl Parsons, Mr Jones, San, Manly, and many more....

Those guys have all been good about appreciating the contest, and hopefully supporting the books that provide them....

Many posters have been thankful of Jack of Hearts' efforts, and thankfully have told him so...
